We here at Clean Romance Cafe love authors and want to help. We've been working hard and have come up with a program we think you'll love. Keep in mind that this is a pilot program, and there is a chance the way we run this program may change. Here is some of the information for both readers and authors.
What is a Guest Author Group Read? These are month-long events where a book by a specific author will be selected by our moderators as a group read. What's one thing that makes this different from our other group reads? The author participates with it!
How you can help as a reader: As of right now, this thread will be open for readers to request which authors they’d like to have invited as group read guests. There’s no guarantee that authors will want to do a group read at Clean Romance Cafe, but it doesn’t hurt to ask.
What authors/publishers need to know: This thread is NOT for authors/publishers to request to be a part of an Author Group Read. If you would like to be involved, please message Moderator Mora Ash Wildes to see if there is any availability for Author Group Reads.
If an author is chosen for an Author Group Read, they need to be available to answer questions throughout their month, and they will be subject to comments both good and bad from Clean Romance Cafe members.
Readers will be encouraged to keep things respectful, even if they didn’t love something about the book (saying they didn’t like the book isn’t considered being “disrespectful”. Everyone is entitled to their opinion), but authors MUST ALWAYS respond in a professional and respectful way.
The Guest Author Group Reads can be done with or without complimentary copies given to members. Though you may get more readers involved if you offer at least a few free copies of the book. You can also align your month with putting your book on sale or free for the first few days of the month. Or you can use a perma-free book. Let us know ahead of time if you plan to do any of these things.
What are Clean Romance Cafe's Responsibilities: Every month, an announcement will be made (via a broadcast message) as to which book will be our next Author Group Read, and a thread will be opened for the discussion.
Clean Romance Cafe will be in charge of reviewing all author/publisher requests to be involved in a group read. Please message Moderator Mora Ash Wildes for more information with the subject line: Author Group Read Inquiry.
Right now, we are planning on doing two of these events per month, starting on the 15th of each of those months and ending on the 14th of the following month. When your month is due to come up, a Clean Romance Cafe Moderator will contact you to go over everything.
