I really liked this book. I enjoy a dark fairytale and I think T. Kingfisher does a good job of writing a short fairytale that moves along. She is succinct in her word choice and her books are easy to consume in a single sitting.

I liked this book, but I felt like there should have been more detail in certain areas. I don't know how to describe it really, but I thought that the market was amazing and there could have been more happening there and I wanted more background on other characters. Anywho, that aside I thought the book was pretty good, but it wasn't one of my favorites.

Was this your first book by this author? She does have her own style. I read What Moves the Dead by her and every now and then I had that feeling, but luckily with that one it is based on Poe's short story The Fall of the House of Usher, so I felt like even if I didn't know everything I had a point of reference.

Yeah this was my first book by the author! It makes sense that this is her writing style. At certain points in the book I could tell it was heavily influenced by various fairytales, but because it was such a mix of all different ones it still couldn't really serve as a point of reference. It's not like I hated it though, in a lot of books it's the same cliches over and over again so this was a nice switch up from that!
