Nova( moving hiatus!) Ward | 115 comments So I currently have two books that I started but I just can’t get into them. So I was thinking about dnfing them. But I’m only on page sixty or seventy on them. Is that too early to dnf a book?

melanie ☾ | 51 comments I think it depends how long the book is. If it’s about 200-300 pages then I think you’ll be fine to dnf. If the books is 400+ pages then I suggest sticking with it a little longer.
At the end of the day you should do whatever feels right. If you really can’t stand it then let it be regardless of the length of the book :))

Wishrunner | 25 comments I’ve only dnfed a book once this year and here are my rules. 1. be past the intro. 2. You don’t really care about how the plot gets resolve. 3. You get bored while reading. 4. You don’t care about losing your progress if you stop.

Taite | 4 comments honestly here’s my thing, if it’s a library book idk, i’d say if you’re rereading pages over and over, HOWEVER if it’s a book you bought, listen to the audiobook and get your moneys worth!! there’s a free app called libby and all you need is a library card from any library!

rina | 5 comments unpopular opinion but i think it's okay to dnf a book whenever - there is no point in forcing yourself to finish it. put it down and come back to it when it feels right! or do not at all! i have dnf-ed so many booktok recommendations and don't feel bad at all... sometimes you just don't know what you're getting yourself into.
back in 2019 i bought a copy of hesse's demian, and did not like it at all, i found it boring and dull, but then, 2/3 years later i picked it up again and now it's one of my all time favorites!
i'm new to goodreads so idk if dnf-ing is a permanent thing, but books are meant to bring you joy, so if they don't, then maybe now is just not the right time to be reading that particular book. and if you're meant to read it, it will pop back up somehow eventually!

Hannah Burke | 3 comments I usually try to get to 100 pages. But if I keep falling asleep reading it in the middle of the day, without being tired prior… it’s time to give it up
