I've already read The Wishing Game but I think Vicki just added it to the TBR, so Vicki might!

I'm going to message Vicki and make sure she's okay!

Alison (Lady Coffin) S | 2318 comments Cool

Hope she is good.

I have other stuff I can read, so if she can not I still have good book options.

Alison (Lady Coffin) S | 2318 comments Trish, did I read that some of you also have read Family Family by Laurie Frankel Family Family, because I put that one on hold also for a possible Buddy Read if anyone else has yet to read it for a future week.

Death Knells and Wedding Bells (Lighthouse Library Mystery, #10) by Eva Gates Death Knells and Wedding Bells (Lighthouse Library Mystery #10) by Eva Gates
Started 6/24/2024
Done 6/25/2024
272 pages, Kindle, Default Edition
GISH task: #72 I hate to say it, but this financial company is underwater. Let’s see the board meeting— with professionally dressed people at the table with chairs, paper, pens etc… all fully submerged at the bottom of a swimming pool. - read a book where the MC might attend a board meeting
2nd GISH task: #63 Loo goes to space! A person named Loo won our NASA email contest last Fall, and Loo’s prize is out of this world. Write “Loo” on a paper airplane and launch it. We must see you writing the name on the paper airplane and folding it, and the paper airplane’s journey through the air. - read a book where the MC's first name begins with 'L'

ALSO FITS:(view spoiler)

Alison (Lady Coffin) S | 2318 comments HELP!
Two questions for you gals.

72. I hate to say it, but this financial company is underwater. Let’s see the board meeting— with professionally dressed people at the table with chairs, paper, pens etc… all fully submerged at the bottom of a swimming pool. - read a book where the MC might attend a board meeting

So with the word "might" in it, if the MC has attended the meeting of the Library Board in past series books, but not in this one. Does that mean that she "might" have attended board meeting? I did not know before I read it, and she might have.

ALSO:
#56. Sometimes things are just too comfy to leave! Let’s see you in your “Hammock Self-Containment Unit”. This, of course, would be you in a hammock with everything you need to live for one week, including all life preserving items, sanitation supplies and, of course, entertainment (live or otherwise). - read a book that is your favorite genre

If I honestly can mot say I have just ONE favorite genre, but Coxy Mysteries are in the top 5. Would that count?
I can not decide.

Ugh, my brain keeps flip flopping between yes, and no, on both.

Jenny, I think it's hard to pick the most points, but based on MY logic, I would agree with you on those two numbers.

message 179: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 805 comments Trisha, I didn't find a buddy read for Check & Mate which is what I thought you were referring to when you asked if I wanted to BR it in "the other group." So I'm holding off finishing it until I know if we plan to use it for this week's buddy read or not. I'm open to buddying another book instead, if there's another one you think will earn us more points.

Are you talking about the Fugitive Telemetry, or a different book? Because I think the ones you have are good.

Personally, I think task 72 is a good one, having to do all that in a pool. As are tasks 58, 61, 65, and the L name #63 I found not too hard to match up with them.
I found something like 6 books already on my Libby that had L first name mc's. But then I have over 80 books checked out currently. 🤷🏻‍♀️

message 184: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 805 comments Jenny, I think that #78 would be harder to find than #61, even though those are great books. In my opinion (which might mean nothing!), I think #78 might earn more points only because it is so much more difficult to find a caption or blurb on the cover.

message 188: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 805 comments OK, Trisha and I will be buddy reading Check & Mate by Ali Hazelwood so that's 50 points. And the book fits these:

61. - read a book that was nominated for or won an award
64. - read a book with "lobby" in the text of the book
69. - read a book tagged "MidGrade", "Middle Grade" or "Childrens"
74. - read a book with "alien" in the text of the book and set on Earth
78. - read a book with a caption or blurb on the cover

Which of those 5 do you all think might get us the most points? I think maybe 62 & 78, but also 74 is a possibility just because of "alien" being used in text but it takes place on earth.

Also wondering if, since it's a buddy read, we could use different task #s. Just curious.

No, I was thinking of reading A Monstrous Regiment of Women, Mary Russel is an MC.

But I'll stick with what I've already posted for Week 3. Thanks all!

Alison (Lady Coffin) S | 2318 comments I think #61 the Award is going to do better than most of the others you listed.

BECAUSE the GISHWHES part of the task is hard. ...Your co-singer must be either a nobel laureate, MacArthur Fellow, a national elected official, Bill Nye, Jane Goodall, Neil deGrasse Tyson, or any past or present member of the Harlem Globetrotters. Oh, and your karaoke song must have sufficient gravitas and must be an 80s pop song.

Personally, I do not know how I would be able to get someone off that list to sing Karaoke. Much less even gain access to someone on that list.
If it had Nascar driver, I could maybe get my Cousin-in-laws Cousin if I could travel to Ohio. Or wherever Nascar was at the time.
Also, is the significant gravitas 80's song, tongue-in-cheek, or serious. All I can seem to think of is Pop songs, not heavy ballads.
Ok, sorry thinking about it too much, glad I do not actually have to do it.

Oh. My. GISH! I didn't even consider the GISH task, only the reading task. lol I'm glad you pointed that out. I don't know which one(s) will get the most points, but I'll go with those two since at least 2 of you agree. When Trisha is done PASSING her test (go, girl!) she can see if she agrees.
