No idea what's going on here, but saw Team Challenge and had to sign up. :) Now we have to wait till May...

message 7: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ | 3208 comments I'm with you Sunshine. I don't know how to play either. There has to be more than just spelling out your teams power. Guess we'll wait until things are explained further.

My shelf: Battle of the Gods Celtic

message 8: by Anita Reads (new)

Anita Reads Hi everyone. I'll add a shelf soon and post it.

When will the reading for this challenge begin? and can books only be used if they're started after the challenge begins? Also is there a points score thing (the rules were a little vague, but I love team challenges so I just signed up).

Sunshine✰✰✰ | 478 comments If you look under the Pantheon vs Pantheon thread, that has about all the info that's available right now.

Anita Reads Oh. Yeah I just saw that.

message 12: by Joanne (new)

Joanne I'm confused, will we get a new word every week or do we just keep spelling the same word over and over?

Barbara ★ | 3208 comments Joanne wrote: "I'm confused, will we get a new word every week or do we just keep spelling the same word over and over?"

That's my confusion too. For 20,000 points we'll be spelling that one word a whole lot.

Do we spell it as a team or individually?

message 15: by Joanne (new)

Joanne We spell it as a team, that I saw answered in the FAQ thread.

Yes you spell the word as a team and I will be posting mini challenges through out the game to earn your team points

It might be helpful if you'd list those series or provide a link to a shelf some of us (me particularly) could use the help. :)

message 23: by Joanne (new)

Joanne Yeah I can't think of a single book I've read or want to read that would fit this theme. I guess it's not my usual reading style... any recommendations would be welcome.

Anita Reads Does all the books being read for this challenge have to be about mythology. Not that I mind.

Eternal Guardians by Elisabeth Naughton also focuses on the Mythology genre.

Marked (Eternal Guardians, #1) by Elisabeth Naughton

I have several of those series you posted, Kat on my TBR list as well :)

Btw. I know absolutely nothing about the Celtic mythology. I have the Iron Druids on my TBR list - so maybe this will be the time to read it. The mythology I know most about is the Norse, as I grew up with tales about Odin, Thor and Freja - and now the Greek after reading different books about it recently.

Thanks. I have heard of (but never read) Rick Riordan as an author vaguely. But every other book and author you listed is completely new to me. It looks like I have a lot of research to do.

message 28: by Anita Reads (last edited Apr 11, 2015 12:40PM) (new)

Anita Reads I just finished Percy Jackson last month, and just finished the first book in Rick's spin off series Heroes of Olympus yesterday The Lost Hero (The Heroes of Olympus, #1) by Rick Riordan . I really enjoyed it. Even though it's targeted toward middle grade as well. I like the humor in the story.

I'll look through my books and see if I can find some more stories that centers around mythology.

I don't think the books we read have to deal with Mythology we just get more points if they do :)

message 30: by Anita Reads (new)

Anita Reads Don't you think that the bonus points only work if we read something Celtic? In the thread Pantheon vs. Pantheon it says we get 50 bonus points if the book centers around our Pantheon.

Anita wrote: "Don't you think that the bonus points only work if we read something Celtic? In the thread Pantheon vs. Pantheon it says we get 50 bonus points if the book centers around our Pantheon."

This is what Lizz wrote in the Book Verification Thread.

Ok I am thinking I am going to let it be about any gods not just the ones in the battle. So if you read a book that has the Native American gods in it you will get the 50 points

I'm assuming this goes for all other gods as well

NO. only the books for the bonus points have to be about mythology. All other books can be any genre.

Barbara ★ | 3208 comments Joanne wrote: "I'm confused, will we get a new word every week or do we just keep spelling the same word over and over?"

according to the FAQ section, we just keep spelling the same word over and over again. If we spell it as a team, we get 100 points in addition to the per book points. If we spell it individually, we only get the per book points.

20,000 points is huge, we're going to have to spell shapechanger 50+ times.

ETA: According to Lizz, "each team spells out their power but each book you read and doing the mini challenges will count to points also. "

message 39: by Barbara ★ (last edited Apr 13, 2015 05:28PM) (new)

Barbara ★ | 3208 comments 1. Apparently you can start reading now but have to finish the book after May 3rd for it too count. I never did find this rule fair to any team.

2. We have to finish each word before we move onto the next one.

Per Lizz - "Each teammate contributes to the word and once the word is done you get 100 points and then your team can try and spell it out again for another 100 points and so on"

I haven't a clue about spreed sheets, sorry :(

So how are we going to handle this, are we going to assign letters say each week or are we just going to wing it.

I'm overly obsessed with planning things out ahead of time, I'm a planner and a list maker that's just a tiny bit of my OCD kicking in :)

oh any idea who is the captain? I didn't see anything posted anywhere
