Are tecchie nerds finally getting around to making me an interactive map of stars by birthplace? So that I can pick a town and see who grew up there? Seems like maybe so.

See (free, no ads) link ('Notable People'):
https://tjukanovt.github.io/notable-p...

And this related product (also free at least in my browser):

'People Map of the USA'
https://pudding.cool/2019/05/people-map/

Not great products so far; mighty crude and flawed. No search utilities; and difficult to zoom. Basics that any site should boast.

But at least its a start. The tool (apparently) draws on Wikipedia's 'notable names' data from place-name site entries.

But at least now we can finally see what part of Canada Glenn Ford hails from. We can discover that James Caan was born in Queens; Freddie Mercury from Africa.

Unfortunately, a lot of contemporary celebs get in the way of this treasure-hunting. Part of the graphic formula uses 'page hit' statistics to determine celeb-notability.

So: these maps desperately needs a way to filter stars by time-period to cut out all of today's no-talent bozos. There's many, many celebs for whom I do not wish to know where they were hatched/spawned.

Best technique I've found so far: navigate to some foreign locale like Alice Springs AU, or Dorking UK, and learn who on earth ever emerged from such obscure hamlets.

Reason for this thread: call out any unusual 'finds' you stumble over.
