I am Jenny, on of the captains for this Boring Wheel of Life.
My guess is that it will not be boring at all.
Once we get going, there will be links to all the rules, and to our team tracking spreadsheet.
We will be using the tracking sheet instead of the official sheet to make the captains' lives easier, and for Wheel Tetris fun if we need it.
I am in sunny Phoenix, AZ, where it is still way too bloody hot for October. I would complain to management, but I do not know where to send the angry email, alas.
I live with two furry feline monsters, love books, American football, good scotch, baking, and having dinner with friends.
If there are any newbies to Wheel, or to challenges in general, worry not, the team will have your back. Ask any question you want, and it will be answered. If you are uncomfortable using a spreadsheet, we can set up a completion post thread, just give a shout.
I love it when a team is chatty, but I get that real life is more important than GR. But, for the sanity of the captains, we request that you check in to this thread at least once a week so we don't have to try to make sure you are still out there. Also, we try to have as much fun as possible in new teams, so jump in, the water is lovely!!!!

Looking forward to the Boring Wheel of Life....but Tax Declaration seems highly stressful instead of boring (says the accountant on the team!) 😂🤣
I'm in east Tennessee, which also has very high temperatures for October; where is the fall weather??
I hope everyone is excited for Wheels and that we all have a great time!

I'm from NW Louisiana. This year I became a part-time empty nester. Part time since my youngest comes home every weekend she can manage, and my middle daughter is here during her breaks if they are a week or more and some weekends when she isn't working.
Anyway, I am excited and can't wait to get started.

I'm Jax from the Pacific NW. We are fully into fall and I have been out doing bits of yardwork between the rain showers. Once I've got the house ready for weather it will be books, football and cooking. I work full time and our house contains 2 adults, 5 dogs, 2 cats and the occasional kid home from school.

Looking forward to playing. I have played wheel a few times now and have enjoyed it. I live in Colorado and both my girls are here and my two grands ❤️. I love to play Pickleball, all kinds of crafts , play with the grands and of course read. My favorite genre’s are Mystery, Horror and Science Fiction. I will read just about anything for a challenge though. I had to put down my 14 year old Aussie about 2 weeks ago. I miss having a dog. : (

I'm Rebecca from NY where we are finally having fall weather - yay! I've been feeling slumpy so this challenge is at the perfect time! That's all for now because I need to finish my coffee...

I think this team is mostly new to me teammates!
Nice to me you both, Jax and Rebecca!
Happy to team up with you again, Shan and Leslie!

You guys are mostly new to me as well! Jenny we're already friends so we must have been on a challenge together before but I don't know which one, haha.
And Jax, did you do Comic Relief Team 6 Dark Humor with me?
Anyways I'm MelanieJoy, I also go by Melanie, MJ, or Mel depending on how many Melanie's there are around, haha. I live in California with my husband, 1 yr old son, and 2 cats. I'm also dog sitting this week in my small condo so full house, haha.
My favorite genres are fantasy, literary fiction, romance, and anything else that sounds interesting at the moment. I had an amazing year of reading until August and then I got burned out on challenges and my reading slowed way down. I think I read 2-3 books total in September and that was it. My record month was 11 books.
I fluctuate between SUPER chatty and super ghosty haha! I'll try to be as regular on here as I can!
Looking forward to getting to know you and reading with you all!

Our first word is UNBLOCKING THE U-BEND. Find those U books!!!
If you haven't read the rules yet, we get bonus points for longer books and older books. So, anyone who wants to do a buddy read of a really old, long, classic, shout out!!!!!

I don't know if you normally participate in the BOM discussions, but if you don't and you love extra points, consider joining in during the Wheel Challenge!
The October Theme BOM will start on Oct 16; the book is The Road Trip.
Bonus Points that we can earn for EACH person who participates:
Writing a day's worth of discussion questions = 40 points.
Participating in BOM discussion (minimum 3 days) = 20 points.
If you are interested in volunteering to write Discussion Questions (DQ), you can volunteer HERE. The selection is by a random draw, with only one person from each team able to "win". The volunteering will end soon, so get your name in the draw!
You can NOMINATE a book for both of the December BOMs! Nominations end on October 27. The thread for the Adult BOM can be found HERE and the thread for the Theme BOM can be found HERE. Polls to vote for your favorite book will be open shortly after the nominations end.
I will be updating Post #7 with links to all things BOM. Wouldn't it be great to have 100% participation in all of the BOMs during Wheel?!?!

Just so you know, I read about 4 books a week and I put that in as 4 books per round!! Silly me!!
Nice to meet you all and looking forward to playing. I'm in Vancouver, Canada. PST

Well, it's your lucky day! There is an individual cap on books read per round, but it is either an additional 4 books or 50% of your signup total. That makes your cap 8 books per round! Lol

Do we each independently spell through the word we get, or are we working as a team to spell it multiple times and each get assigned certain letters?
Thanks for the guidance!!

When you start putting books on the spreadsheet, there will be a spot to add if the book works for more than one letter, in case we need to move things around a bit as we go.
We usually go with first come first served with the letters. So, hopefully you will just be able to read what you want to and it will fit somewhere.

We will be working as a team to spell out the word as many times as we can over the 2 week round.
We don't assign letters; we let everyone choose the letters they want to read for. We just ask that you include any other letters the book will work for in case we need to move some around at the end. There is a column on the far right side of the sheet to add anything the book works for.
Does that help? If not, let me know or ask whatever you need.

And it begins! Usually Jenny and I wait a little while before we start posting the same things at the same time!

Edit - I found the countdown on the SS. What a lovely SS, btw! Very nice job! I wish I had those skills

We will be using the Tracking SS, not the official one, for all our updates.
Here is the link:

Sorry I thought you meant the Team SS. I can view the tracking sheet.
