She tried not to cry after hearing that. "w-why?" she asked.

"You checked him in, so you need to check him out."

She cursed being a decent human being. "I-I guess... um..bye.?" She said, leaving without giving the boy a chance to say something. Would she come back? Maybe, depends if she even remembers.

Now, while Ivy did tell herself to forget about Arthur, she actually was looking forward to seeing him well and awake. The day came finally, and Ivy went to the infirmary to check him out.

Arthur was sitting up in the bed, head turned so he could examine his new wings. She watched as he fluttered them. Arthur reached towards them and drew his hand back, a weapon made of shadows now in his hand.

"H-hey" Ivy muttered. "Are you feeling better?" She asked

He jumped, startled by her voice. The shadow construct disappeared into thin air, "Oh, hey Ivy." he said, smiling slightly, "I guess so, I'm just tired."

"That's good. Well uh...I'm supposed to check you out. Are you good to leave?" She asked concerned.

He nodded, "I should be." He held out a hand for her to help him up, "By the way, have you thought about my offer to teach you?"

She flinched for a moment when he held out her hand, forgetting that she's not at home anymore. he's not trying to hurt you Ivy. she told herself, though she struggled even convincing herself. She took his hand and helped him up. The offer, right. She hadn't really thought on it much.. "Uh...sure, I guess. You could help teach me."

He groaned and stretched, muscles sore from being inactive for so long.

"So uh...why did you suddenly grow wings?" She asked curious

"I'm not sure," he admitted

"Interesting..." She said, curious to why that happened. "So, are you stuck with them forever?"

"I think so."

"How do you feel about that?" Ivy felt bad for asking so many questions, but she couldn't help it. It's not every day a boy you meet sprouts bird wings.

"Honestly, I love it. Who needs to walk?" He laughed, flapping his wings and trying to fly.

She smiled, glad the wings weren't something that'd bother him. "You look nice with wings." She complimented.

He blushed slightly but quickly hid it, "Thanks." he chuckled. He lifted off the ground a couple of inches before he fell back to the ground, "So close."

She smirked. "When you learn how to get farther than that let me know, I'm tired of walking everywhere." She teased.

Ivy glanced around. "Do you know where I check you out?" She asked.

"I don't think I can carry both of us for some time yet." he replied. He shrugged at her second question

"I know, I'm not expecting you to be Superman." She remarked.

Ivy walked around the infirmary. "So I'm stuck here until there's staff, such great service" She said sarcastically then walked over to the sofa Arthur was sitting on and sat beside him. "At least I have good company."

"You seem nicer than before," he teased gently

She shrugged. "I..I guess I grew more comfortable around you? I can be more mean if you want.." She mumbled.

"No, I like it," he said, smiling at her

She smiled back, then looked down at the floor. "So...uh, what do you like to do in your free time?" She asked nervously. Never did she have a back and forth conversation with anyone before, most of the time one person bullied her, and she'd sit and accept she sucks.

"You mean besides causing chaos?" he chuckled, "Nothing really, I like being alone."

She nodded. "I get that..well t-the alone part. I hate chaos, as we've discussed...already." She stammered.

He nodded, smiling at her.

Ivy blushed, then quickly shoot it off and faced the other direction, pretending the sky was suddenly interesting. Why must he keep smiling at her? She hates how easily nervous she gets.

The wings kinda made her nervous, just radiating dark magic. Being a child of Hecate she could sense magic, and his wings made her dizzy. Plus, how come he made that shadow ball earlier? Is he evil...no, Arthur could never be evil...right?

There's no doubt though that he indeed looked nice in the wings, it gave him...character, and class. With a hint of attractiveness, Ivy thought to herself. Then immediately cursing herself for that. He's just a friend anyway.

Arthur's eyebrows shot straight up as he got the notion of her attraction to him but he quickly smoothed his features. "Were you planning on doing anything later?" he asked, "If not, then we could maybe go out and get something to eat." he said this so smoothly that she hardly realized he was asking her to a date

When her slow self (idk why I just insulted my child lol) realized what he said to her. Her eyes widen in shock. "Y-your only saying that 'cause you can tell what I'm feeling..." She mumbled embarrassed.

"As if," he scoffed, "That's part of it, but you are actually beautiful. And single if I'm not mistaken."

Her face turned red. "I-uh...thats..nice?"Ivy said, suddenly forgetting how to speak English.

He smiled, "Does 6:30 work for you?"

She nodded. Officially quitting on words.

He cocked his head, "Are you okay?"

"Y-yeah, I guess I just never gotten this close to someone before..." She said nervously.

"I haven't either," he admitted, "I'm just kind of winging it." He laughed at his own joke

She laughed. "Interesting. At least I'm not the only one who lacks experience."

He nodded, suddenly seeming unsure.

"You okay?" She asked, concerned.

He nodded, "I'm fine," he spotted a staff member, "You can go and check me out now."

She stood from the sofa and walked toward the staff member. "erm...how exactly do I check him out?" Ivy asked the staff member.

"Just sign here." he said, pointing at the clipboard

She signed the clipboard. "Is that all?" She asked.

The kid nodded, "You guys are free to go."
