He clutched his plans tighter, his jaw tightening when he noticed the girl sulking in the corner. He paused in the hallway, she was frowning.
"Are you okay?" He asked after a beat. She didn't look particularly in need of help but it was always best to ask.

She gave the guy a once-over. His eyes were a startling shade of grey. "I am absolutely fantastic," Laurent said, fixing her posture. "Never been better." She shot him a sarcastic smile.

"Uh huh, next you'll be trying to convince me the world is flat and we all live in the matrix." He said with a small chuckle. "I'm Ezra."
He extended a hand out of habit but quickly regretted the decision as he took in her close off posture. But it wasn't like he could take the hand back now, that was even worse.

"I'm Laurent," she said, accepting his handshake. She smiled, genuinely. He seemed familiar to her, she'd probably just saw him around camp. But after being here so long, the faces have just blended together.

Ezra's shoulders dropped and he chuckled at her joke. He looked down at their attached hands and noticed the purple dye on her fingers. His lips pinched as he attempted to guess their origin.
"On a scale of one to ten how obsessed are you with the colour purple?" He asked as he tilted his head. His nose scrunched as he looked between Laurent's hair and hands.
He had always disliked the colour. If he was being honest her hands were giving him flashbacks to a particularly traumatic event.

Laurent laughed. Out of all the questions he could have asked, this was the one he'd gone with? Not that it's a bad question. In fact, it's one with the simplest answer. Memories flashed through her head of the countless nights playing card games and drinking grape juice in her younger years with her mother. As she got older, the more complicated the games got and the stronger the drinks became.
"I wouldn't say obsessed, that implies the love is unhealthy. But, on a scale of one to ten for how much I like the color purple, I'd have to say seven,” Laurent answered.
His body language when asking wasn't lost on her. She's been around people enough to know some things were unsaid. It wasn't like her to push, so she let it be.

"I'm surprised you didn't say ten. What's your favourite colour then?" He asked. They were dumb questions but he just wanted to keep talking with her. The girl who's whole body shook with laughter. The girl with eyes that betrayed a calculating intelligence she hid beneath her humour. Right before she spoke he watched as she internally calculated thoughts and memories.
Okay now he was starting to sound creepy. Maybe he was starting to like talking to this girl to much. Ezra had always been on board with sow and steady wins the race. The speed at which he was becoming fascinated with her alarmed him.

"Gods this sucks.." Alpo groans, resting his face in his hands as he looks towards the ground. He would rather be cleaning the Pegasus stables than be in here. He couldn't remember how long he's been waiting for Chiron and Mr. D to work out his punishment.
"Chiron, I really didn't mean to! I was just having a rough day and I put my emotions onto him--" The girl said defensively as she walked backwards from the big house. She seemed genuinely concerned for the boy on the other side of the walls, who she accidently transferred her stress too while bumping into him. Despite being at camp for a little over a year, her powers were still uncontrollable and had a mind of their own. Even the slightest touch could inflict pain on someone.
Her shoulders drooped and her expression fell flat as she realized another boy was out here, his face burrowed in his hands. She suddenly felt embarrassed, wanting to shrink into the shadows.

"I don't mean to pry," Alpo starts, resting his hands on his knees as he leans forward, "But what do you mean put your emotions onto someone?" He couldn't help but ask, the curiosity was killing him.
Anastasia looked over again, noticing how he perked up when Chiron was mentioned. "No, uh, you're not prying at all." She seemed dumbfounded. Nobody had particularly asked about her powers before.
"Well, my dad, Algos, he's the god of pain. Really a super minor god, hardly anyone knows him..." She realized she was rambling now, the same embarrassed tint returning to her cheeks. "He gave me the gift of transferring emotions. Literally passing my pain or happiness, even, on to someone else."

"Well, you're right when you say hardly anyone knows him. Uh, no offense." Alpo gives a smile, trying to relax in his seat. Yet, he felt strangely giddy over the fact he had someone to talk to while he waited. "I mean, it sounds like a cool power. Having a friend that's in the dumps and you can just.. pass your happiness to them. It's a good battle strategy too.." Alpo trails off, his mind racing with ideas of how he could use that power in a fight.
"Like, imagine, you're wounded on the battle field, and you can just.. pass your agony to an enemy by bumping in to them! Do you have any idea how useful that would be?" A smile breaks out across Alpo's face as he looks at Anastasia.
Anastasia's anxiety depleted at the smile forming on his face. "None taken," she said, her lips turning up in return. The way the boy talked... he brought such ease over her. She couldn't help but laugh at his rhetorical remarks.
"Yeah, yeah, you're right! They won't even know what hit them," she jokes back. Realizing now, Alpo looked beat up from whatever had caused him to be at the Big House. "Um, can I ask why you're here?"

"So now, I'm just waiting on Chiron and Mr. D to work out my punishment. And since you just came out, I'm assuming they haven't talked yet," Alpo pauses, thinking some more. "Also assuming I'll have to wait out here even longer."
The thought of spending more time in a silent room, aside from the sound of the clock ticking, made him want to break down. He was tired of waiting, it wasn't something he did all too well.
Anastasia nodded along, listening to the boy. "It was just self-defense, I'm sure." She walked over to him, taking a seat on the Adirondack chairs.
"I'll keep you company," she said, which sounded like an offer but really, the boy looked tired. Whether that was from the fight, or waiting for his punishment, or even just talking about the events-- Well, Anastasia knew pain and emotions. "Can I try something?" She asked. "It's not painful, but um... Since we were talking about my powers and all that."

Alpo sits up a little straighter, curious what the girl wanted to try. It must be about her powers. "Sure, go ahead," he seemed curious. If his guess was right and the girl was going to use her powers on him, what would it feel like? Would he even notice, or would it be like drinking an energy drink? Or well, whatever emotion she was feeling, drink.
Anastasia noticed the smile on his lips. Huh, she thought to herself, her own lips turning up. She was glad to see him smiling, granted a few moments ago he appeared stressed.
"I'm Anastasia, by the way. Annie for short, if you want." Anastasia reached over, placing her hand on his forearm. "Don't freakout," she warned him, taking a deep breath. She thought about his pain, how he was feeling, and pulled it all away. You could literally see gold flowing out of him like a river. It shimmered away into a thin mist. Similar to a weight off his shoulders, Alpo would be care free for... Well, the rest of the day. She was still working on that.
"How do you feel?" She asked, a sheepish expression on her face.

Alpo watches the gold flow out of him, his eyebrows raising with interest. A quizzical look finds its way on his face, before his lips turn up into a grin. This was cooler than he thought it was going to be, that's for sure. His eyes flit back and forth between Anastasia and the gold, watching as it shimmered away.
"How do I feel? Well, better than I felt before, that's for sure," Alpo sighs in content, relaxing into the chair.
She glanced up, relief washing through her. A small smile grew on her face at his reactions. "Yeah? Well, good. I wasn't sure if that was going to actually work," she said. Anastasia had prayed that it would, but it was still a 50/50 chance it could've backfired... Maybe..
"I'm kidding, by the way. But uhm, you look more relaxed, so that's a plus!" She beamed, "Now you'll just have to find a way to repay me with your powers, or something."
Anastasia herself even felt relaxed, the summer breeze sifting through the air, the smell of the campfire in the distance. Everything about it was so peaceful.

He's never really tried using his powers on somebody else. Usually, everything is a group effort in the camp. So if he used his powers on himself, then his team won by default. He'd never really had to use his powers on somebody else.
"I'm also joking. I'm not too sure how well that'd work," her lips turned upwards. "I'm guessing you're a child of... Nike? Nemesis?" She guessed. "I'm still trying to wrap my head around all the gods and goddesses."
She'd only been here for a year, and she could barely remember half the minor deities.

"And not knowing all the gods and goddesses is valid. There's a ton of them, there's a god for everything in the world honestly."
"You've met her?" She asked in awe. Anastasia had never met her father. Granted, he was probably busy, doing whatever gods did wherever gods lived. "I had to stay in the Hermes cabin for ages..." She thought of how she slept on the floor for weeks. Thanks, Dad.
She laughed, "Right? I swear, there's a new one every week!" Thankfully, camp offered classes on Greek mythology, so Anastasia occasionally joined in and attempted to learn a thing or two.

Alpo smiles at Anastasia's comment. He gave up on trying to memorize all of the minor gods. He really only bothered to memorize the major ones. And his mom, of course.
"Wow..." Anastasia said, "Do you guys keep in touch?" She asked, picking at the bracelets lining on her list. She always dreamt of going to a camp and making friendship bracelets with other campers. While she didn't particularly get along with them, she'd often find herself by the lake, threading the knots and beads.
"Oh, it's disgusting. Do you know how many socks I'd find by my bed? Those campers are... something." She shook her head in disbelief.

"I could only imagine the socks. You'd think they would be cleaner, since their dad is the god of thieves. Would a thief not want their space clean, so another person couldn't come and steal it?" He sighs, truly believing Hermes kids made absolutely no sense.
Anastasia nods along to Alpo speaking. "Well, that's great. I'm glad to hear some parents actually keep in touch with their kids," she smiled at him. While she didn't mind not having a relationship with her dad, she wished he at least reached out once in a while.
"Ugh, it was awful," she says through a grin. "One would think, but you know..." She shrugged. "My new cabin is much cleaner though. Quieter, too. Thank the gods."

He stretches his arms above his head, before letting them fall lazily onto his knees. "I wish my cabin was quiet. We don't have a lot of people, but it's still so loud," he shakes his head, shuddering at the thought of having to go back to the loudness before curfew. "So loud.."
