So many of my friends have read Abby Jimenez and rave about her books. I have resisted. Why? you may ask. Because I unabashedly avoid closed door romance. I read romance to have a predictable storyline and assured happy ending, and also for some smut. Romance without smut is just....emotions? Gross.
BUT, I decided to make an exception and finally read Part of Your World because so many friends raved about it. (I was also swayed because I *thought* it was about a big city lawyer. It is not. I have no idea where I got that impression. Clearly by *not* reading the book description).
And, it was cute. It was most certainly closed door (there was one scene that was like "the door is ajar, maybe slightly cracked"), but, for the most part, I really liked the characters and I am a sucker for a small town setting where everyone knows everyone else.
But it was most certainly all about the feels (the emotional kind, not the physical touching kind) and some of the characters were just so over the top that my eyes hurt from rolling them so hard. Maybe that was the point? I don't know, but her parents, two work friends, and ex-boyfriend were so extreme they were caricatures. And she had his deep love for her brother who seemed to not really give a shit about her.
Ultimately it was a mixed bag for me personally with more good than bad, but I can totally see where the broad love comes from. And, I will probably read the other two books in the series as well, so there is that. lol

LOL.
I haven't read an Abby Jiminez book but I'm sure I will eventually, probably sooner rather than later. I love her TikTok account.
