Ask any and all questions about the 2nd quarterly here!

Toshita (toshibarve) | 429 comments For the allies/enemies, we can use multiple books to complete the page count requirement right? For example, if we are reading for Sam we could use 1 150 page book and 1 300 page book or 3 150 page books to complete?

Yes, absolutely! You can put as many book as necessary to complete the page count. You just can't use books for an ally/enemy AND a task. But you can definitely use several short books or one long one or whatever to fulfill a specific page count

DeeNeez | 414 comments Cover requirements must be the edition cover I read? Or could I count an alternative cover that I did not read?

You can use an alternate cover for the cover tasks. If you do, please provide a link to the relevant cover in your review post!

Kai (kaioram) | 250 comments I posted on Goodreads my review for the 1st book I read but I'm not seeing any link for me to copy. Where or how do I find such links?

Hi Kai! You just copy-paste the URL for the page where you can see your review. So once you write it, Goodreads will automatically take you to the page with your review. You can also access your own reviews through your profile - just copy the link like you would with any other website

Kai (kaioram) | 250 comments Ok so I figured out the link to my reviews part. i posted the link in the grid. But could not put my name in team member name part. When I hit it for the drop down arrow to go to my name it just keeps saying try again. Oh boy, lol

Thanks for pointing that out, I just went into your SS and the issue should be fixed now!

Toshita (toshibarve) | 429 comments Where do we see which enemy/ally we're encountering? Will you post that in our review thread/chat or is it somewhere on the spreadsheet that I missed?

The enemy/ally will be posted in the chat! I already posted the ones for this week, so you might just have to scroll back a bit.

Jessica S | 243 comments Hi Saige,

I just want to make sure I'm understanding the rules correctly.

If I read a book today that doesn't work for any of this weeks tasks, I can add it to the banked sheet then use it for future tasks?

What if I don't add the book to the banked sheet but just use today's book for one of next week's tasks. Is that allowed?

Hi Jessica!

You are welcome to use any book you read from April-June for any of the weeks. So if you read a book today and you don't use it until the final week of the challenge, that's ok!

The banked tab on the spreadsheet is not official - it's there for you and your team to use if you wish, but using it is not required. The only thing I look at "officially" is the review thread where you post books.

I hope that clears things up!

Kai (kaioram) | 250 comments Hi Saige, wondering what 2 in page count means?

message 15: by Kai (new)

Kai (kaioram) | 250 comments Also, what's an MPG thriller?

message 16: by Saige (new)

Saige (lannister807) | 3844 comments Mod
Hi Kai!

2 in page count literally means a book with the number 2 in its page count. So a book with 120 pages would work, or 239, or 352, etc. Any number that contains a 2 would count!

MPG means "main page genre" - when you look at the book's page on Goodreads, there's a little section for what genres it is. So MPG thriller would have "thriller" on that page. The reason we do this is because lots of books are horror AND thriller or thriller AND supernatural - any book with "thriller" as an MPG would work even if the book feels as though it's primarily another genre

message 17: by Kai (new)

Kai (kaioram) | 250 comments Where would I find the review thread? I kept posting my reviews in the banked section becuz it was the only place I saw to post review links

Kai (kaioram) | 250 comments Hey Saige. Hope ur day is good! Question..for the prompt that says feet on the cover, does one foot on the cover count? Or does it need to be both feet?

message 22: by Saige (new)

Saige (lannister807) | 3844 comments Mod
Hi Kai! I hope you're well, too! Just one foot is ok (I know this is a sort of goofy prompt, lol)

Saige - Team Shire's spreadsheet says it's in the owner's trash. I'm not sure what is going on with it.

Hi Jamie! Sorry to see/answer this so late - it should be all fixed now, but please let me know if there are still issues!

message 26: by Kai (new)

Kai (kaioram) | 250 comments Hey Saige, is it just one person reads for the ally and enemy? And if so does that mean I should use the book I read for the ally on something else since another teammate posted there's already?

Kai wrote: "Hey Saige, is it just one person reads for the ally and enemy? And if so does that mean I should use the book I read for the ally on something else since another teammate posted there's already?"

Hi Kai! To win the ally/enemy you just need to post enough pages. So if the number is 400 and one person posts a book with 400 (or more) pages, that works. If two people each post a book with 200 pages, that also works! If someone posts for the ally before you then yes, please count your book towards a category instead. You can chat with your team in advance to make sure you aren't doubling up on the allies/enemies

We still get page points for the book we post for the ally/enemy, correct?

So if we have to read 400 pages for our ally and we post a book that is 550 pages, we still get credit for 550 pages while also meeting the page requirements, correct?

DeeNeez wrote: "If a task required a word in the text… can variation of the word also count? Example. Stew, stews, stewed, stewing, ect"

Yes! What matters is that the letters "stew" are in text in that order. So even "steward" would count because it contains "stew" even though it's not related to the food at all

Jessica S | 243 comments Hi Saige, for 'eye on the cover' Are you looking for the eye to be the main feature, or would a book with a cover model count?

Jessica wrote: "Hi Saige, for 'eye on the cover' Are you looking for the eye to be the main feature, or would a book with a cover model count?"

A cover model counts! For all of the categories that say "x item on cover" it does not need to be the main feature, it can be a tiny background item or anything in between. The only time that "x" on cover needs to be a majority/main feature is for the colour categories like "cover is white"

Hope that's clear!

Kai (kaioram) | 250 comments Hey Saige, what does it mean to read a book in translation?

message 39: by Saige (new)

Saige (lannister807) | 3844 comments Mod
Kai wrote: "Hey Saige, what does it mean to read a book in translation?"

It means that the book was originally written in another language, but has been translated into English. For example: Men Without Women was written by Haruki Murakami in Japanese, but if you read it in English then it would count towards that category
