Short stories are hard to sell. A one-off short story by an unknown author (insert pen name) would be even more difficult. It may depend on how you plan to publish. If you only plan to get it into an anthology or a magazine. It wouldn't matter. You could still boast about the accomplishment or any awards under your name. However, if you plan to sell in retail stores, using your own name may attract more readers. Good luck with it!
