Will do! I'm just finishing the separate team SS's now, will post them as soon as they're done!

Hi Vicki! Full rules are here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Just to clarify, it's only the first letter of the title that can count, including "a" and "the". So "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" works for H but "The Summer I Knew You" counts for T cause it starts with the.
You read one book for each letter, then spell a word. Letters you don't use can be used for a different word later without you needing to re-read for them. So on the review, "active" letters are those you need to read for and "completed" letters are those you've already read for that haven't yet been used for a word

Great! Thanks for the clarification. :)
Just adding here so we have it readily available:
Rules:
Each team will be given 10 letters at the start of the challenge. You must read one book for each letter before you can use them to spell a word. You can read for a letter by doing any of the following:
1. Title begins with the letter (includes “a” and “the”)
2. Letter in author’s initials
3. Series title ends with the letter
4. MC’s first or last name begins with the letter
5. Publisher name ends with the letter

I almost think it will work best if we just read and bank as we needed, mainly because we all read at different speeds.
We should just make sure we put all the letters it will work for so we can easily move it over as needed.
What does everyone else think?

I'm fine with either, Michelle.
Also, I should say that I'm horrible at coming up with long words for these types of games. So hopefully we have some super spellers on the team, lol!

It should be open now! Please lmk if you're still having problems with it

FYI - Column B on the banked tab has an error when you select the team member & Column D doesn't have the team members listed, it just says option 1 and option 2.

Ok I think I've fixed the issue on the banked tab - not sure what was happening there. Is anyone else having issues with Column D on the main sheet? It shows the list of participants for me, not just option 1 option 2, but maybe because I own the document it's showing me something different

I think if we come up with a word to spell first than we can work on a game plan on which one to use and where to place it on the board to get maximum points.

Hi! I've seen some questions about word placement, so just wanted to drop in and remind folks that the first word of a Scrabble game has to go through the star in the middle! After that the only placement rule is that you have to connect to at least one previous word
Weighty is a good word! I already read an E so I'll move that over from the banked tab.
@Ashleigh - We can put finished books we read that don't work for any of our letters on the banked tab. That way we can use them for future letters.

LOL I was going to say this too but I also need more coffee and to read the rules.

I'm almost done with a book that works for W, so I can take that letter. But I can always just place my books on the banked tab too if that's easier.
Since we have to read for every letter before we can post our word on the board, I say claim the letter you can if it's available.
I'm about to finish a book that has F.

We need to post all of our books for all the letters before we can submit our word, correct?
Just when I think I have my head wrapped around this, I question myself, lol

Thank you.
The book I just finished will work for either H or E. I'm trying to decide which one of these is harder to find.
Is anyone currently reading for either of these?

Okay, so, here is what we get bonus wise for the letters.
Bonus points are determined by the number value of each letter, just like in the boardgame. Those values are:
1 - A, E, I, L, N, O, R, S, T, U
2 - D, G
3 - B, C, M, P
4 - F, H, V, W, Y
5 - K
8 - J, X
10 - Q, Z

Our word is going to be WEIGHTY. So, we would want W or Y to be on the double letter score box.
We could do WEIGHTY using D8 to J8, H4 to H10, H6 to H12, or F8 to L8.
Edit: We could also have H on a double letter score box too. So, the numbers can be moved around as well.
