Samara Knight | 10 comments Hello Librarians, please add these books:

Book 3.5: (I believe this is the right way to do spinoffs/novella?)

Book 4:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

to the Shadows & Secrets series
https://www.goodreads.com/series/4034...

Thank you!

Liralen | 8218 comments These have been added to the system too recently to be able to add them to series pages without an ISBN or ASIN. Please bump this thread in a few days.

Vanessa (booksndreams) | 165 comments For now I was only able to add "Deep Cover".

Samara Knight | 10 comments Thank you both, is it easier if I add the ISBN for the other book?

message 5: by Liralen (new)

Liralen | 8218 comments Book 4 is now searchable, so I've added it :)

It takes a few days for the system to catch up and for newly added books to be searchable by title/author, though they're immediately searchable by ASIN/ISBN. Search is used to add books to series pages, hence the delay. So for the future, yes, it's best if you don't add a book until you have an ISBN or ASIN—that also prevents the bots from auto-importing a duplicate copy with the ASIN/ISBN.

Samara Knight | 10 comments Thanks so much librarians! Appreciate all that you do!

So for the future, if I add an empty new book manually with an ISBN, but the Amazon page gets imported later (i.e. ASIN will be unique but the Amazon metadata will contain the same ISBN as original entry), will the system just combine the two editions?

Liralen | 8218 comments In theory it should just update the existing edition, I think. In practice the bots don't always do what they should. But adding an edition without either ASIN or ISBN typically results in the bots creating a brand new record and a librarian needing to merge the one without an identifier.
