Some people are extraordinary. Some are just extra. TJ Klune's YA debut, The Extraordinaries, is a queer coming-of-age story about a fanboy with ADHD and the heroes he loves.

Nick Bell? Not extraordinary. But being the most popular fanfiction writer in the Extraordinaries fandom is a superpower, right?

After a chance encounter with Shadow Star, Nova City’s mightiest hero (and Nick’s biggest crush), Nick sets out to make himself extraordinary. And he’ll do it with or without the reluctant help of Seth Gray, Nick's best friend (and maybe the love of his life).

Rainbow Rowell's Fangirl meets Marissa Meyer's Renegades in TJ Klune's YA debut.

Amanda (bookoutbelow) | 277 comments Come by any time though! I am not 100% sure when I am starting either.

Amanda (bookoutbelow) | 277 comments Ellen-Arwen (do you go by full name or Ellen?), I think we're on PFLAG together too and we can use this buddy read there as well :)

Amanda (bookoutbelow) | 277 comments Started and forgot to check in! This is actually my 3rd or 4th time reading this one so no surprises for me lol. I do think it'll be interesting because I think this is my first time reading since being diagnosed with ADHD so I wonder if I'll relate to Nick a little more.

Amanda (bookoutbelow) | 277 comments Oh god I forgot (view spoiler)

Amanda (bookoutbelow) | 277 comments I stayed up way too late last night to finish. I forgot how much I loved this one and I can’t believe I haven’t finished the series yet (and only read book 2 once? I cried pretty much throughout the whole last 20% because I’m such a baby with books lol
