Drace (dracenines) | 7447 comments There are errors to clean up with the book Termush.

1. US Paperback: Termush (ISBN 9780374613587)

- The page count is incorrect. I’m holding a copy and it stops at 105.

- The publisher is incorrect. It should be FSG Originals.

- The description is incorrect. It should read as follows, transcribed from the back cover:

The only luxury is safety.

An unnamed disaster has destroyed the world outside. But within the walls of the seaside resort called Termush, a select group of guests continues to live life undisturbed – for now. As time passes, signs of the cataclysm begin to bleed into their gilded idyll. Before long, their peaceful days have turned into an agonizing wait for things to fall apart.

Sven Holm’s prose is opalescent: untroubled on the surface but shot through with brilliant inner agitation. Termush is a lost classic of Scandinavian literature, and its message is as shockingly apt as it was fifty years ago: humanity cannot insulate itself from the calamity it has wreaked upon the world; inevitably, the apocalypse finds you.

2. US Kindle: Termush (ASIN B0C3YR8H5L)

- The description is incorrect. It should read as follows:

With an introduction by Jeff VanderMeer that makes an ardent case for its relevance to today’s world, this rediscovered classic of Scandinavian fiction is still shockingly relevant more than fifty years after it was first published. Sven Holm’s Termush is a searing and prophetic study of humanity forced into a moral bind through its own doing.

Termush caters to every need of its wealthy patrons—first among them, a coveted spot at this exclusive seaside getaway, a resort designed for the end of the world.

Everyone within its walls has been promised full protection from the aftereffects of “the disaster.” The staff work behind the scenes to create a calming and frictionless mood; they pipe soothing music into the halls and quickly remove the dead birds that fall out of the sky. But the specter of death remains. Recon teams come and go in protective gear. Fear of contamination spreads as the hotel cautiously welcomes survivors only to then censor news of their arrival. As the days pass, the veneer of control begins to crack, and it becomes clear that the residents of Termush can insulate themselves from neither the physical effects of the cataclysm nor the moral fallout of using their wealth to separate themselves from the fate of those trapped outside.

3. US Ebook: Termush (ISBN 9780374613594)

- The cover art is missing. Available here: https://mpd-biblio-covers.imgix.net/9... // https://us.macmillan.com/books/978037...

- The description is incorrect. It should be the same as Entry 2.

===

4. First English Edition: Termush; (ISBN 9780571088171)

- The semicolon needs to be removed from the title.

- The cover art is missing. The publisher of the original edition did an article about finding and re-releasing the book that includes the original cover art, but it has a large gray background. I have cropped the cover art so that it can be used on Goodreads. A link to the art and to the article are here: https://imgur.com/a/1XyXrYg // https://www.faber.co.uk/journal/book-...

===

5. Current UK Paperback: Termush (ISBN 9780571379156)

- Jeff VanderMeer needs to be added with the Foreword role.

- The publisher is incorrect. It should be Faber & Faber.

- “Main” should be removed from the Editions field.

===

6. UK Kindle: Termush (ASIN B0BGJTV1JK)

- Sylvia Clayton needs to be added with the Translator role.

===

7. UK Ebook: Termush (ISBN 9780571379163)

- Jeff VanderMeer’s role is incorrect. It should be Foreword.

===

8. UK Audible: Termush: (ASIN B0BT893KF9)

- The colon needs to be removed from the title.

- The “Jeff VanderMeer - introduction” author page needs to be deleted from Goodreads entirely. Jeff VanderMeer needs to be added with the Foreword role.

- Sylvia Clayton needs to be added with the Translator role.

- The page count is missing. It should be 3.
