Hello team!
Your spreadsheet, Round 1 tab, has been updated with your first three characters: Scar, Gaston, Tamatoa! Please remember that the challenge begins on 9/1 and that you only need to finish 4 tasks (out of the 8) before getting a new character.
FYI —this will be what the colors mean for the same round.
Light Orange will be a new character.
Light Purple will be when you complete the first 4 out of 8 tasks.
Dark Orange will be the new character you have but need to complete the remaining 4 tasks.
Dark Purple will be a fully completed characte

I see that the villains we have are Gaston, Scar, & Tamatoa, and that there is tasks under each villain, but that's about as much as I'm clear on lol
Despite my confusion, i'm looking forward to doing this with you all :)

In message 1 there is a link to our spreadsheet. The goal is we have to complete 4 of the 8 tasks for the character we were given.
So our characters are: Scar, Gaston, and Tamatoa. They are colored light orange.
They are color-coated as well. This is the key for the colors:

You can plan your books to match the tasks OR you can do like I do and just read whatever you want and then try and match it to a character.
The banked tab is where we keep our books if they don't work for the current characters we are working on. If it works for another character, you have a place to put which one it works for.
And if for some reason, someone takes a task before you get to it, at the end of the month, we can still post all of our books for page points so they will still count for the challenge.
Once you finish the book, you'll mark it on the spreadsheet and then you'll go to the review tab (our link is found in message one as well). There is an example on message 1 on the review link that will give you an example on how to post your book.

yes, thank you! That's so helpful. So I plan to read "A Thousand Splendid Suns," which fits the "L,I,O,N in the title "task, but since I haven't read it yet, I should remove it from the Excel sheet and put it in the banked books tab instead?
Is there anywhere else I should mention it? like in here or the review thread?

you can just wait until you have actually finished the book before putting it on the spreadsheet. once you finish the book, you post it on the review thread, but not before then

got it, thanks sm!
Also to what Amanda said, if your book doesn't work for a character we are working on, you can use the banked tab to log your book, and you can put what task (s) and character (s) it does work for. Either you can go back and post it when we get that character, OR someone else can post for you. We just move it off the banked tab, onto the regular tab.
It'll all make sense once you do it a couple of times!

When do you want to read that?
I have it on my 2025 tbr and we can do a buddy read that way we get double points each

Yes!! I just bought it today actually, and planned to start when I finished my current book, which will likely be sometime this week, but I'm happy to wait for you!

I will request a thread for us for Friday, and whenever you are ready jump on it and I will join you as soon as I am eve if it's before or after the date set.
Does that work for you?

yes, that works! Also, i've never done a buddy read before. Once we get the thread accepted, do we just discuss whatever comes to mind while reading the book or are there certain things in particular we're supposed to do/discuss?

we most often write updates every couple of chapters depending on what's happening, but you can update as much as you want based on what you're thinking or feeling about the story.
for BR threads to be accepted as part of point counting you have to post 4 updates throughout the book
And you use spoiler tags to hide what you say in case it has spoilers
I can help you on the thread with more details if you want 🥰

This month we have threads for
Hexed
Binding 13
An Immense World: How Animal Senses Reveal the Hidden Realms Around Us
Fool the Demon
Do you know where BOTM threads are? or do you want me to point you in case you're interested in any of these books?

Not sure what's going on here. I just clicked the link and it worked for me. See if it works for you; the link is below:

Ah! Thanks for confirming!

For the spreadsheet
Can I recommend we keep the books we might be reading and might fit a task in the separate sheet instead of the Round sheet or the banked sheet to avoid any confusion?
We can create one that fits our needs
And that we only use the Banked tab for books that have been read and reviewed.
And for the round sheets let's only put books that were submitted on the review tab so we also don't delete anything for someone or think some task/character are done while they're not
I'm open to that Grace.
They are almost ahead by 40 points already! Those BR's are definitely helping them out. I do have some BRs I can start reading to try and catch up some points.

I have 5 buddy reads planned throughout the month so hopefully those can help.
Most of my other books are ARCs for this month but I'll post my non arc books in case anything looks interesting to someone for a buddy:

where do you see other teams scores?

If we complete the 4 tasks for that character before you're done, you can place the book in banked and note what task to use it for.
We'll definitely come back to that character at some point, and you're right, that seems like a pretty tricky task to complete, so it's great that we have a book for it!
