When Rennick was thirteen, the gods bestowed upon him the name of his fated mate--a human girl. Heartsore and consumed with thoughts of her, he did the only thing he could and sent her anonymous letters and gifts…

Until he crossed the barrier into her kingdom to claim her as his own.


Six months after Amelia's thirteenth birthday, she received a strange letter from a fae boy claiming her as his mate. Humans weren't taught much about the fae, and one look at the horrifying doll meant to be her belated birthday gift solidified her suspicions that someone was playing a cruel joke. Except the letters and odd gifts kept coming. Against her better judgment, Amelia fell in love with her mysterious admirer throughout the years, certain they would never meet. But on her twenty-fifth birthday, her walk to work was interrupted by two familiar words she'd read a million times.

"Hello, love."

Viciously Yours is a new adult fantasy romance long novella/short novel of about 60k words/250 pages. It is fast-paced and focuses solely on the relationship between the two main characters. There is no overarching background plot. Example: Rebels attack the kingdoms, but there is no story as to why because it just is.

The couple does have minor obstacles, but there is no miscommunication trope, no third act breakup, and no cheating.

PLEASE NOTE: The male main character does a few morally black things to those he deems a threat to his relationship. There are no shades of grey.

CONTENT WARNINGS:
Orphaned heroine, gore, unethical kills and decisions by main characters, death of a parent, mature language, explicit sexual situations, graphic violence and death

i'm probably going to start this tonight, i'll be driving all day tomorrow coming back from the beach. This one might take me longer depending on what i have going on Sunday.

Chapters 1 - 9

(view spoiler)[ I know it might not be for everyone but I like how it shows Rennick and Amelia growing up. I do want to see them interact when they meet and I’m not sure if this book is long enough for it to be good.

I don’t think it mentioned Rennick’s mother having a familiar but Amelia seems to have one, which I really like and hope that the familiars are going to play big parts in the book.

I don’t like Ora and I really hope that’s going to be dealt with.

(view spoiler)[ Since the situation with Gilpin didn’t cause too big of a reaction with Amelia, I really hope that means she’s going to get revenge on Ora.

I can’t wait to see them meet and to see what fae life looks like.

I like the fast pace. I just wish the book was longer as I want to see more of the fae at the palace.

Chapter 29 - Epilogue

(view spoiler)[ I don’t know what I’m going to rate this book yet (3 or 4 stars). It was great and I really liked it, but it needed to be longer to show more of the characters and life at the palace.

I’m definitely going to continue the series - let me know if you want to too so we can change the thread to a series one instead. Thankfully Amos and Clover’s book comes out last - I’m the least interested in them.

(view spoiler)[I like that it shows them growing up as well. I do NOT like Ora, she is the worst. I do like that we get to see Rennick as vulnerable even though he is training to be a ruler and ruthless. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ The Gilpin thing was brutal. I'm confused since Rennick said he felt her orgasm, but she made it out like it was 5 minutes and done and she was left unsatisified. Rennick is a bit obsessive and crazy about Amelia lol. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ I figured that had to be the situation. Too many clues pointed to that along the way. I knew something had to be up with Amelia, i knew she couldn't be pure human because of the way the land reacted to her when she crossed over. She is showing signs of magic. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ I'm going with 3.5 stars. It needed to be longer. I'm happy to continue the series. I like that it was exactly what the author stated it to be. A love story. I definitely think it could have been longer to develop more about the other fae around and how the different lands will be. (hide spoiler)]

I agree and I have hope that the next book is going to have more of those details since it's longer. I've requested to change this to a series thread, but I don't think I'm going to read the next book until after The Viridian Priestess.

I’m starting Obsessively Yours and I’m kind of scared how far Roman’s relationship with Vivian is going to go. I’m wondering if Violet was originally named Vivian and their names were accidentally switched as babies since they’re twins and that’s why Roman is going to hear Vivian’s name.

Chapters 1 - 12

(view spoiler)[ I’m liking this book as much as the first one even though the situation is complicated and I’m still not sure about the gods whispering Vivian’s name. Is it just going to be excused as a mistake?Just like the previous book, I hope more of the side characters are shown soon.

Roman’s mother definitely knows what’s going on and I’m curious to see if maybe she’s going to help with a solution.

For a moment I thought that Kincaid was the person Vivian was seeing because he told the rebels that Vivian was Roman’s mate and who else knew about that?

Chapters 13 - 25

(view spoiler)[ I really didn’t like Vivian or Titus (especially after they saw each other before the theatre when it became obvious).

Roman’s mother is amazing and I loved Roman organising a kind of rage room for Violet after Vivian ran away with Titus.

I liked the letters and while I might have wanted to see more scenes of Violet’s travels, at the same time I like that Violet and Roman’s time apart was short.

I hope Marissa doesn’t turn out to be like an Ora.

Chapters 26 - 36

(view spoiler)[ I’m still liking the book but maybe slightly less than the previous one. It could be because there’s enough time in this one to show more of the side characters and yet they’re still not shown. Also, I preferred Amelia’s reactions to Violet’s when the MMCs are threatening/killing others for upsetting them.

Even though there was damning evidence, I really liked that Violet confronts Roman about “Marissa’s” letter and they work it out. More could be shown about trying to find out how that letter got to her instead of Violet though.

I’m curious to see how the situation with Vivian is going to play out. Is Vivian going to pretend to be Violet? Is she planning to hand Violet over to the rebels?

Chapter 37 - Epilogue

(view spoiler)[ I liked this book, but I don’t think I’d care to reread it in the future.

I didn’t like Vivian’s return and it felt like the extra pages in this book were mostly for more scenes of Roman threatening/killing people and Violet not always being fine with it, and more sex scenes. I think that the number of scenes with side characters was similar to the previous book.

I’m hoping Dean and Fawn’s book is going to be more enjoyable.
