For May we are going to have a category 1 anything goes book and our category 2 is "Short Stories".

-Only one nomination per person and you must choose one category. If all 12 spots in one category are not filled by April 10th, you can nominate a book for the other category.

-Please specify which category you are nominating for. (Cat 1 or Cat 2) Your post should look something like this:

Category 1: "This Book" by An Author

- Please make sure you have the book and author in your nomination

- Add a blurb of some sort to let us know what the book will be like.

-We will be taking the first 12 nominations for each category or we will close nominations on April 20th 23rd if not all categories are filled.

-Voting will begin soon after nominations are done and will be open for a week or so.

- If your book wins, please let us know whether or not you would like to lead the book discussion. It is not required by any means that you lead it.

- Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri
A short story collection. Jhumpa Lahiri's stories tell the lives of Indians in exile, of people navigating between the strict traditions they've inherited and the baffling New World they must encounter every day.

Then I have two recommendations if someone is interested in finding great short stories;

- The Yellow Wall-Paper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. ¨

It's a 6000-word short story first published in 1892. It is regarded as an important early work of American feminist literature, illustrating attitudes in the 19th century toward women's health, both physical and mental. The story is a collection of journal entries written by a woman who is sentenced to a country rest cure and there becomes increasingly absorbed by the pattern of the wallpaper in her bedroom.

And I love it. It's pretty gothic and eerie.

- The Body by Stephen King
In 1960s America, four young boys go on a journey to search for the body of a boy killed by a train. As they travel, they discover how cruel the world can be, but also how wondrous. The movie Stand By Me is based on this short story.
