Nice nom-de-plume - do you speak French? Some books that I'd recommend: pretty much anything by Philip Pullman, but particularly 'His Dark Materials' trilogy; definitely The Book Thief - Markus is an Australian author like myself; most of Dianna Wynne-Jones's books; The Tricksters by Margaret Mahy; any and all of David Almond's novels; Cornelia Funke's The Thief Lord and her trilogy Inkheart; Alan Garner's The Owl Service; River Boy by Tim Bowler,

Last month I read a bunch of Sarah Dessen books and fell in love with them. So hopefully you will too!

Hi Jennifer,
I've heard great things about Sarah Dessen's books. :) What book do you recommend? I might try with reading Just Listen. :)
PS: I saw from your profile that you're from the Philippines as well. I am too. :)

My fave from Sarah Dassen is The Truth About Forever!!!
I'm actually from San Diego, California, but I'm living in the Philippines right now...my mom retired out here so she can play golf all the freaking time & I missed my mommy (I know I'm a momma's little girl)

One of the most fun things we do are the reading challenges, so I hope you will check out our YA Reading Challenge #3. We all have such fun and are introduced to some great literature!
Please feel free to add me as a friend if you like and join in the fun!
Lydia

Have you read the sequel to Hunger Games?

Hi Blake! :)
I love The Hunger Games too. And Catching Fire as well. The third book in the series will be released August next year as per the latest news from Publishers Weekly.
And I just finished Harry Potter and The Philosopher's Stone. I know, I'm quite late because everyone else has read it but I'm still happy that I decided to finally read it. I love the first book and can't wait to read the rest in the series. ♥

Hi Jen,
I'm going to add The Truth About Forever on my wish list.
*laughs* But it's okay to be a momma's girl. I am one too. :)

Yes, Catching Fire was excellent, and as Jinnifer told me, "Better than the first one"

Sounds like a plan. I wish I had 9 or 10 sets of eyes to be able to read all of the books I want to read right now though. lol :)

Actually, I kind of wish that I had waited until now to start reading the whole series, because it seems like it's way better if you can just read a book, and go straight to the next one rather than have to wait until it's released. Which sometimes you forget what' even happening in the story and almost want to read the last one again just to refresh yourelf. I just started this group too, a friend of mine Jinnifer told me about and said that it was a good one to be in.

I am the same way, I love to wait on a series and be able to read them back to back...I always read so many books that if I have to wait a while for the next book in a series to come out then I always wanna go back and read the previous one because I forget sometimes whats happening.

Wouldn't it be great if, when an author writes a book in a series, they just wait until the whole thing is done, and then publish it? lol . That wouldn't work for the publisher though, they would probably want to space out the release dates

My name is Joyce and I'm a 22 year-old Investment Banker from the Philippines. I've been a member of this group for quite a while though I've only started posting recently.
My favorite YA Books are the following: The Hunger Games and Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins, Harry Potter by JK Rowling (only read the first book but I loved it!), A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle, The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman and The Giver by Lois Lowry.
I'm currently reading the book Graceling by Kristin Cashore. And so far, it's wonderful. I'm also planning to read The Book Thief by Markus Zusak.
I've only just recently discovered the wonderful world of Young Adult books so I'm still basically a newbie to this genre. ♥ Any recommendations for good YA books are truly welcome and appreciated.
Thank you! And it's nice to meet you all. ♥
