CBS has made an extended promo for it's upcoming Supergirl TV show available on YouTube (it's 6m35s long and I'm pretty sure spoils the entire first episode.)

IO9 suggests First Supergirl Trailer Really Does Feel Like An SNL Parody it reminds them of last weeks Saturday Night Live parody of what a Black Widow Movie might be like.Also on YouTube.

I thought it was more like The Devil Wears Prada.

Watched the trailer yesterday, and the first thing I thought of was The Devil Wears Prada theme with the boss and elevator bit.

It seemed to be a bit like Drop Dead Diva (girl has supernatural secret) meets Younger (girl has job threatening secret and cinematography) meets Devil...Prada / Ugly Betty a lot of the kinds of things that have worked to attract young female audience and "oh, yeah she is bulletproof and can fly."

I thought the trailer gave away too much of the things that could be Easter eggs to more traditional fans (blanket-cape, etc.), but CBS probably wanted to hit all the points... or bludgeon the audience with them.

My fear is that the character will come off as ditzy for the sake of having human problems, which will make her something of a joke for her super-human problems. It will be a difficult balance for all involved. I'll give it a shot; after all, I enjoyed Drop Dead Diva and Devil wears Prada.
