Wikipedia's got a list of what's in the Complete Fairy Tales...you can check any edition against it to see if it really is complete or not. If you look at the link, you'll also see it was originally split into two volumes. I would consider reading all of Volume 1 OR 2 as completion of that part of the task.

Thanks Sam! I just looked to hold it at the library and the copy they have is the big one. I am excited!

GREAT task, btw, i'm mourning the end of Lost, so this will be fun!

Yes, it's any book on the list. It's true that, for example, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz doesn't actually show up as a physical book, but it's definitely an integral part of the show.

I read it for the Summer Challenge and couldn't believe I had waited that long to read it.

if anyone is interested, there's a goodreads group devoted to the television show: http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/9...

Same here! It's now on my favorites shelf.
By the way, awesome task! Add me to the list of those mourning the end of Lost. For the first time ever, I'm actually wishing the hiatus was longer!
I'll be reading either Our Mutual Friend by Dickens or Ulysses by Joyce for the second part of the task.
Other 5 star "Lost Lit" books from my shelves include The Third Policeman by Flann O'Brien, Everything That Rises Must Converge by Flannery O'Connor, A Tale of Two Cities by Dickens, The Stand by Stephen King, and Watership Down by Richard Adams.

That would be fine.

Should I pick new titles, or is this ok? I've just been wanting to read both of these for a while now and thought it'd be cool to work them into this challenge since I love LOST! (Especially since The Pearl fits both parts of the challenge)

The Pearl is really more of a novella rather than a novel, but it's okay by me. And, as far as I'm concerned, Animal Farm is on the list, so it's fine. But Cynthia's the one with final say.

If Sam says it's ok it's fine by me.

Hooray! Thanks to you both!

I sent an email to Sam two weeks ago and it seems like she is not doing the winter challenge she didn't answer my email or my message (#25).

Well, I'm not Sam or Cynthia, but Steinbeck is specifically listed in the task for part A, so that must be ok.
And Are You There, God?... is listed on the Lost Literature link provided by Sam, so it also should be ok.
