How is everyone doing on their 2009 reading/book goals (if you had any)? Any reading goals for 2010?

I wanted to read at least 75 books in 2009 and so far I'm at 105 novels plus several graphic novels.

I think instead of setting a number of books to read goal for 2010 I'm going to try to get caught up in all the series I've started this year. I've got 20 different series that have books out I haven't read all of them plus another 4 new (and not so new) releases waiting for my attention. My grand total is 55 books out in series I've started that are published and still unread - YIKES! Should keep me busy through a lot of 2010 especially if you throw in the new releases I'm waiting for.

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 77 comments Shannon, I'm only one away from your goal of 75! My aim was 52 books for 2009, one for every week of the year so I'm really pleased.

I even managed to expand on my genres. I've been reading a lot of young adult books, tried some more general fantasy, forced myself to read a couple of classics and managed to read some non-fiction.

I've also tried to break my sexist attitude towards male authors. 99.9% of the books I've read are by women, not sure if I've been doing that on purpose or whether it's just the genres I like (UF and PNR mostly). So I've been reading more male authors mostly in the general fantasy category , there's only one modern one I really like so far and I'm determined to find more. I've tried Sabriel by Garth Nix, Stardust and The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman to name a few but none of those have really done it for me, only Steven E. Wedel's Werewolf Saga series has really interested me so far.

For 2010 I think I'm going to continue looking for male authors and expanding my genres but also reading new series which I've all ready started to do because I've almost run out of books to read in my long standing ones. My goal again will be to read at least 52 books - variety is more important to me than quantity at the moment.

Kathryn (kathry) Amy, that's really cool about you expanding genres and funny about the sexist attitude. :) I'll have to check out the werewolf saga you mentioned.

I think fininshing up series is a really good idea. I definitely have too many going. I've hardly worked on series lately since I've mostly been reading stand alones. You both have far surpassed your reading goals! I passed mine too, though mostly due to the large number of books I read at the beginning of the year.
