Thanks, Cecilia!

Yes, I have to balance writing with managing my time on Goodreads.

But I'm glad authors and readers are enjoying the group.

Elizabeth Isaacs (eisaacs) | 14 comments Vince,
I posted some time ago about several ning networks for writers. I just wanted to let everyone know that as of July Ning will be charging, but there are other freebies out there. Most people already know this, but I thought I'd pass the word just in case.
Take care,
Elizabeth

message 5: by Ruth (new)

Ruth Sims | 12 comments How do I get to the needed folder to post something? I have 5 short stories published by Untreed Reads. May I post all of them? I also have two historical fiction novels as well. All of them are listed on Goodreads already, but I'm assuming this is in addition to the regular listing..? Hey, I'm very old and don't learn new tricks easily. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

message 6: by Vincent, Group Founder (new)

Vincent Lowry (vlowry) | 1126 comments Mod
Hi Ruth,

You can just scroll down and click on the folder name. Once you do, you will see an option to add a post.

As a quick link for your short stories, try this too:

message 7: by Ruth (new)

Ruth Sims | 12 comments Thanks, Vincent (one of my favorite names, btw)Do you mean scroll down in the subject index? None of those appear to be live links, at least on my computer. Am I doing something wrong or is there another list that is made up of live links? The link you gave in your reply is fine, and I'll add to the folder later today.

message 8: by Vincent, Group Founder (new)

Vincent Lowry (vlowry) | 1126 comments Mod
Sure thing, Ruth.

I'm not sure why they aren't appearing as live links on your end, but here is another link for historical fiction (you can post your work here too): http://www.goodreads.com/topic/new/26...

message 9: by Ruth (new)

Ruth Sims | 12 comments Thanks, Vincent! It's a mystery why the file names are not links. Maybe it's something to do with Windows 7

message 10: by Dan (new)

Dan Makaon (dan_makaon) | 28 comments Genre listing does not show as live links . . . can't get to science fiction folder

message 11: by Vincent, Group Founder (new)

Vincent Lowry (vlowry) | 1126 comments Mod
Hi Dan,

They are not set-up as live links. You can scroll down on the group and find the genres you need.

How about either Action/Adventure/Political Intrigue or Action/Action then Political Intrigue separately.

Thanks,

Lynn

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

I do travel books. so far, one travel/memoir and one travel tip guide. Is there a folder for that?

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

I mean will there be one for travel? Which would espionage books be under? I seldom find any listings anywhere for espionage as a separate genre.

message 15: by Vincent, Group Founder (new)

Vincent Lowry (vlowry) | 1126 comments Mod
Marianne and Mona,

There is now a travel folder.

Feel free to post there.

(Espionage can go under mystery or thriller.)

message 16: by Lynn (new)

Lynn Hallbrooks (lynnhallbrooks) | 135 comments Vincent,

I still don't see an Action/Adventure or Political Intrigue. Where would like a book that is a mix genre: Military/Action/Adventure/Political Intrigue like our book, Call Sign: Wrecking Crew?

Lynn

Will it be possible to create a folder for Business books?

Thanks!

You can also post under nonfiction, too.

You can leave a post about your book in the genres listed on the group (and in the Bulletin Board section).

Thanks

Gary Markwick (garymarkwick) | 23 comments Hi Vincent,
Thank you for making the time to do this post.
But, I notice there is no listing for Self help books, or new age. My book is a self help book.
Best wishes Gary

Hi Gary,

There is a reference folder you can use for your self help book.

You'll see it toward the middle of the group.

Mark Goldstein | 16 comments My name is Mark Goldstein and I've recently published my fist novel on Amazon. I don't know what category it fits under exactly. It has gay themes certainly, but hopefully would appeal to a wider audience. Anyway, it is called "As Luck Would Have It" and if you want to take a look, here is the link. Thanks for your interest.

Gabriel Boutros | 115 comments Hi, is there any chance of adding a folder for crime fiction, or courtroom dramas? Gabriel

message 40: by Vincent, Group Founder (new)

Vincent Lowry (vlowry) | 1126 comments Mod
Hi Gabriel,

Is there a big difference between crime fiction and mystery?

They sound similar.

message 41: by Gabriel (new)

Gabriel Boutros | 115 comments A mystery is usually a whodunnit. I'm not sure if I would go to the mystery folder if I wanted to read something by John Grisham or David Baldacci. Perhaps courtroom drama or legal thriller?

message 42: by Chameleon (new)

Chameleon (goodreadscomchameleon-author) | 36 comments None of the folder links anywhere on this thread are showing as links. I'd like to post my new romance novel there, but can't get to it o.O

message 43: by Vincent, Group Founder (new)

Vincent Lowry (vlowry) | 1126 comments Mod
Hi Chameleon,

I haven't set them up as links (I might do so in the months to come).

But you can go to the group's main page and just scroll to see the folders.

Done.

But guys might cruise around in that folder too. Just a heads-up.

Guys are welcome. Why should they like Women's Fiction any less than a female would enjoy reading extreme adventure?

message 49: by Susan (new)

Susan (susanacree) | 3 comments The genre folders are not links here either.

My book The Horses I've Loved, A Memoir

obviously needs to be placed in the Memoirs folder.

Thanks,
Susan
