Hello Everyone..

i am hoping u can please help me out.. i am looking at buying a ebook reader.. i hate reading books online so i thought why not get a ebook reader...

i am wondering:
Does anyone own a Kindle: Amazon's Original Wireless Reading Device or any other Ereader?

do u like it?

was it worth buying?

can u put on ebooks from ur own computer?

Do u have to buy the books to put them on or can u put on emails or free Ebooks?

is there a cheaper way to read Ebooks other then ur computer or phone?

anything else u know about EReaders that i might not know?

yes. I use the calibre software to organize my library on my computer and it allows me to export directly to the Sony reader.

You can read any ebook you have on your computer as long as it is PDF, EPUB, LRF, or RTF format.

is there a cheaper way to read Ebooks other then ur computer or phone?

How Many GB does a E Reader have? I think mine has 500 mb.

How many books can it hold..? I have about 50 on there now, and still have like 490 mb out of 500 mb free. My entire library could fit on there, but I don't want it to. It takes about 30 seconds to load a book on it from my computer, so I prefer to keep my reader less-cluttered.

I have a Sone ereader and I adore it.

It was so worth buying!!

I can put books from my computer. The sony takes pdf, epub and regular word docs.

So far I have 97 books on it and they've all been free downloads from legitimate copyright free sources. I can buy from almost anywhere as well and find a format that works with my reader.

Maybe an old pdf off ebay, but they don't last long. I used to use a Palm M25 I bought for less than 10$ but the screen went lousy fast, and it was hard to find books in that format(though it did take word docs)

I haven't come close to capacity on my sony, but I don't know the upper limit...need to find the paperwork. lol It does also hold mp3s and photos, but I dont put them on to save space for books!

you can probably find some of the older model readers pretty cheap used. But I think you'd be limited on book format. If you want a lot of new books or to download a lot of free ones, then I'd look at a newer model.
The pocket sized sony is only around 199.00 at Wal Mart.

You can also look into PDAs or used PDAs. I've had a couple and all of them could use mobipocket & pdf. Some could support Microsoft's ereader & some palm's ereader depending on the OS.

I love Kindle. I don't actually own the handheld, but I'm working on it. I downloaded the program to my PC (which was FREE); just have to pay for the books which is cheaper then the bookstore.

So it'd be like reading books on your computer. They have the PC version and are working on the one for the mac and blackberry's.

There's different benefits to each model. One of the complaints I've heard is organizing books on the ereader. I think the Sony eReader is the only one that allows you to group your books into "Collections," like fiction, UF, etc. Maybe someone who has one can give a little more detail.

I've been intrigued by the Nook. It allows you to share books with friends and you can read books free while in Barnes & Noble. There's a free Nook download for PCs as well as apps for different smart phones. I think the Nook is at the top of my list for an ereader (if & when).

was it worth buying? I think it was deff worth buying because i can download my books for free and save space by not having a million books around. And also it stops me from buying books, unless they were so good i need to buy it.

How Many GB does a E Reader have? Mine has a SD slot so you can add or switch up how much space you have but it also has an internal memory of 512 MB (I usually keep about 60 books or so at a time)

Also to dl for free most books come in pdf format or something but i have a free converter to convert them to .epub format....but thats a small price to pay for getting it for free.

I looked at the pocket sony before getting mine but i found it really slow. I dont know if maybe the one at the store was just old or I have no idea, I went with the touch though which has more memory and an SD slot (not sure if the pocket has one)

I own a Kindle 2 and love it. It was worth buying. IPOD and Blackberry is another way to read ebooks but the Ereaders are worth buying if you can afford it. Very portable. I carry mine everywhere I go with multiple books to choose from.

I've played wiht the display models of the Sony (at walmart) and the Nook (at BN) and prefer the feel & look of the nook. I think its a little bigger (I have larger hands) and just personally prefered its style. I suggest you try to find displays to mess around with. Using the Nook was very easy, navigation was intuitive.

I wanted toa attempt the nook....but being in Canada that wasn't possible :(

I wasn't aware it's not in Canada yet. It was just recently released here in the US. Is there usually a delay with that kind of stuff?

We only have the kindle 1 and the sony as far as I know...it's due to the online purhasing on the go that you can do on the go with the reader. In can we dint have AT&T support or it dosent run off the cell towers so there's no way for us to buy them in the go...or at least that's what I understand

I have a bunch of friends on anothe board who have them. 2 got them just this past Christmas. I don't have any interest in one, though I'm afraid we are going to be forced into them eventually.

I own a Kindle 1 and I love it. I have had it for 2 yrs and it was well worth the money. I even bought one for my mom for Christmas last year. The new releases are cheaper on the Kindle than in book form plus you can go thru their top 100 list and a lot of them are completely free. It is fairly easy to download from the computer however I have not done that in awhile. It holds around 250 books plus has a slot for a SD card to extend the memory. The Kindle 2 is suppose to hold many more books. You can also download mp3 for music or audiobooks. I would defintely recommend the Kindle. It runs off of Sprint's network which might effect the whispernet (download) feature depending on where you live. I live in the middle of nowhere and give service, but I have a friend who has to go a mile down the road to use the whispernet service from home. I don't know whose cell service the Nook from B&N runs off of.
