joy *the clean-reader extraordinaire* (joytotheworld) | 98 comments i was recently sifting through our discussion boards looking for some new recommendations and realized that this would be a LOT easier if the books were listed all together somewhere.

if you agree, and you have a spare moment, please add your recommendations (past, present, and future) to our clean reads group bookshelf.

thank you!

Mark (nizhmuth) Sounds like we should have a wiki or a database to make it all organized and accessible.

Joyce | 20 comments We could add bookshelf labels: romance, mystery, YA historical, fantasy, etc. Everyone would have to assign their contributions to one or more of the shelves to make it work, though.

Mark (nizhmuth) Hmm. How about we all put a chosen tag on clean books, eh? We could just use the 'clean' tag (and/or 'clean fantasy', 'clean romance', etc.), or we could use tags more specific to this group.

If we make our own tags, though (that aren't already in use) we should probably list some criteria for the books of the tag. Although, I understand everyone on Goodreads is free to violate that criteria with or without our permission. That'd be cool if we requested Goodreads to add group-specific tags that only specific people in a group could add. They'd almost be like awards from some organization for all to see.

Readers? Or authors also? ALLON is on Squeaky Clean website. But I don't want to presume if you want only reader recommendations.

Mark (nizhmuth) Members of our group (whether readers or authors) is what I meant. I know it's not a flawless system—so we could probably find a site that has a service we could use for one. I wonder if Google Docs has database files we could use, at the very least, if there's not a site better for the purpose.

Thanks,Mark. I didn't want to do anything seemingly inappropriate. :)

Mark (nizhmuth) Wait a minute. What's ALLON? I think I didn't think about that much on my first reading of your comment.

ALLON - YA allegorical fantasy in the tradition of Lewis and Tolkien. Take a peek at the website and video trailer.

Allon Book 3 - Heir Apparent is up for GR giveaway and available in paperback. http://amzn.to/eSj5Ob

After being defeated by King Ellis' forces, Emperor Kamu sends an ambassador to Allon offering a royal marriage between his daughter Kaleana and sixteen-year-old Prince Nigel.

Kaleana gives Nigel a jade statue as a gift of goodwill. Avatar, Nigel's Guardian Overseer, reacts with hostility to the foreign statue and urges him to get rid of it. But his warning has little effect on the smitten prince. Soon, strange things happen; unknown creatures appear, mysterious stones are discovered, and each even threatens the lives of the royal family.

Avatar is convinced the statue is responsible for the trouble. For Nigel, each incident intensifies a secret disturbance - nightmare haunting him about his future. Where does the connection lie - in Nigel's nightmares or is everything the result of revenge disguised as a dowry?

Abigail (handmaiden) | 199 comments Now that the Group Bookshelf is up and running, it would be helpful if those with knowledge that a certain book is clean would add that book to the Group Bookshelf (or check to see if it's already there) at the same time they comment on that book in a discussion thread.

I just added a bunch of recommendations from the "Is It Clean?" list of discussion topics to get started.

Malea | 1 comments The Shoemaker's Wife by Adriana Trigiani. I can't say enough good about this wonderful story. No cursing that I recall. It is mentioned that the two main characters "make love", which is the extent of the sex. Not smutty at all and very tasteful!!!!

CompassBookRatings | 26 comments Compass Book Ratings loves your bookshelf idea and we wish we could post to it, but we just can't keep up. So I include this as just a memo so people can go to a couple of other places we are already maintaining:

First and foremost, our searchable database at http://www.compassbookratings.com/rev...

Second, we do a monthly update on our Goodreads Squeaky Clean Book Club bookshelf with books reviewed that were rated 4.5 - 5 stars and had content levels of 3 or less (based on our system).

Here is to finding that next fabulous read!

Are you on a normal PC? (the goodreads APP doesnt allow me to see the bookshelf) If youre on a normal browser, go to the upper right hand corner where it says:Group Home, Bookshelves, Discussions etc. Click on Bookshelf. Now go to the add books box and just fill in the box with the title of your book.It will say if the book is already on the shelf. If its not you can add it right there.
