I think she means everywhere, as in, EVERYWHERE! Every country in the WORLD! (and possibly universe, ask her.)

Well she said there was a higher being and that is part of the concept of God...God is so much more though. And do you have proof that everything you say is right...at least we have a written God-breathed historically correct six-thousand year old book that tells us what is right and what is wrong

message 103: by austen (new)

austen (oncebef0re) @God's Swordmaiden: That may be true, but a lot of people would laugh at us for talking like that. :'(

Kate R (katetheshortone) I know but the Bible says to get the Word to everyone not convert them so we have to let God do the work.

Ya I sort of cringe when I hear people talk about converting others to Christianity. Like, "Um, we don't have the power to convert ANYone…"

message 106: by Kate (new)

Kate R (katetheshortone) well I don't exactly cringe we can do it with God's help but not alone.

Sandy (sandycrow) | 373 comments Mod
True, but when using that word sort of gives us control…God uses us but it's ultimately His power ;)

message 108: by Kate (new)

Kate R (katetheshortone) Yes, I've never actually thought about that point until this year.

*Mrs. Brightside* Okay, I guess I have a question /: Why is everyone on here a Christian? If you're not a Christian, then i'm not talking to you.

message 110: by Douglas (new)

Douglas (littlepegleg) | 135 comments I think that only Christians have been given the Bible like a love letter from God. They have the Spirit of God that gives them understanding and ability to follow God. It has opened their eyes to who God's Son is and they appreciate being adopted into God's family. There are other reasons that others could contribute to this list.
Why would someone who doesn't appreciate God read this book since it speaks about their sin and a savior they haven't chosen to appreciate? That has always been a mystery to me. It must be the mystery or secret obsession to wonder about how an unknown god/fable has caught their imagination.
What do you think, Bright?

message 111: by *Mrs. Brightside* (new)

*Mrs. Brightside* Bright..wow, that's new. I honestly think people don't just choose who they want to/ don't want to believe in. As in, if your parent(s) are Christian, then that automatically makes you a Christian. You have to tell them otherwise if you discover you don't want to be a Christian. Of course they're not going to make it easy for you. They might pray for you more, take you to church more, and stuff like that. Yeah, some parents might approve their child's decision..but not likely, I think.

If your parent(s) is an atheist, it could be different, maybe not. They just might talk about all the nonsense of God more. If your parents actually tell you that it's okay for you to choose your own religion, then Im going to see people keep becoming a Christian, since their parents are. They can grow up, and stop going to church, but I'm just talking about how it happened. I mean-

If your parents were an atheist, then I still think you would be one too, unless you decided to follow this 'light' that led you to god. And people who probably do read the bible that aren't God's child might be reading it to see if it's something they can believe in. Or if it has proof of his existence. I don't know.

Doug: I didn't mean it as an insult. Just shortened.

B:I honestly think people don't just choose who they want to/ don't want to believe in. As in, if your parent(s) are Christian, then that automatically makes you a Christian...."

D: My Aunt believes that if your parents were religious, then you will rebel and not be. And if your parents were non-religious, then you will seek out deeper meaning from life. I don't think it is that simple, since her understanding leaves God entirely out of the formula. She thinks she is a Christian, but she doesn't know the Lord. I guess the parameters of discussion and understanding have to be defined more strictly to actually carry out a good comparison.
The way the Bible defines people are two ways: saved (regenerated) and unregenerate. The unregenerate are described as Jew and Gentile without the Savior Jesus. The saved are described as both Jew and Gentile who believe in the Savior Jesus, but they are no longer described as Jew or Gentile, but 'The Church' (those called out to God as his chosen people). Lines get a bit blurred at times in Theological matters, but the Chosen Jews will reign with Christ because they were promised a kingdom in this world and Jesus is that King, their Messiah, now rejected by them. The Gentiles who believe (the Bride of Christ) will also reign with Him, but not because of an old Testament promise to them directly, but because they have been grafted into the blessings of salvation through faith in Christ because of the temporary hardening of the Jews hearts against Christ.
It's a long story, but it always ends with both Jews and Gentiles being grateful for finding the life that God holds out to whoever is willing to accept it and whoever God choses to open their hearts. Christ died for all those people and he considers his sacrifice on the Cross as worthwhile because of them. Beautiful love story. I'm glad I'm His child.

Thanks. Sometimes I explain too much because I don't want to be misunderstood.

When you think about God's Word, it is primarily written to those who God draws to Himself. Who wants to read someone elses mail and envy all the great stuff they have? I want to read my own mail. God loves me...and anyone else, if you trust Him.

Douglas (littlepegleg) | 135 comments Alex-wa wrote: "I kind of think of it as Jesus's diary."

Yah, kind like a diary, only sideways, sort of. I mean, a diary is private but the Bible is sideways and spilling all the good stuff out for us to search through and keep for ourselves. We are adopted into God's family, so we can boldly seek his blessings, finding out what He has done for us and show him our appreciation by living for Him. It is our reasonable worship. Cool.

Douglas (littlepegleg) | 135 comments Pansy and Bright,
I knew two people just like you on another board. We had lots of fun. Those two were actually unbelievers though. They doubted God's Word and tried to discourage young believers' faith in God. They liked to used science, statistics and philosophy to attempt to disprove God and His word. It was quite sad, since they only presented a portion of the truth to attempt to prove their unbelief points. Their spirits sounded exactly like you do right now. Not to say you are here just to discourage, but their spirits sounded similar to your words and they disdained holiness to God and His Word. They trusted in themselves. They chose...poorly.

Douglas (littlepegleg) | 135 comments Air wrote: "Why would god send his precious creations to hell if he loves us all equally?"

What makes you think God's love for sinners doesn't have a time for repenting included? His mercy sends the rain to both the righteous and the sinner's land to bring forth the harvest. He doesn't only water the righteous persons land, so it is logical that there will be a time of judgment, since today isn't that day. Both the right and the sinner recieve God's blessing for a time in hopes of saving as many as possible. So therefore, why would you presume that God will never send judgment upon those He has shown mercy towards? It is because He has withheld judgment that some believe and also the reason that some scorn Him even more. All people are not loved by God forever, therefore. Those in hell are the ones that God does not love forever because they never loved Him even one day. They were not His children.
