I thought maybe we could compile a list of links to free reads in this genre found online to download - both complete stories and excerpts. I like these as a way to see how the author writes and what might appeal to me.

A good rule of thumb for posting links to free reads is to see if the author or publisher has posted it. If it's a PDF and it's not posted on the author's or publisher's website or blog, it's probably an illegal copy. :)

I did read the frist 2 chapters of the upcoming "Magic" Kate Daniels series, by Iona Andrews. It was up on their website.

Wicked Lovely is also available for free through the Sony e-book store.

Go to www.4shared.com . Yes it's a file sharing site. Wait, don't bite my head off! I use this site mostly to sample authors/books, if I like them, I go out and buy them. Nothing beats having a book in my hands, but books tend to get spendy and I want to know I'm gonna like what I'm reading before I dish out the $ for it. So this is more or less my electronic library, without those pesky return dates!

Yeah, I tried that first and had the same results. Maybe their search engine is only updated periodically or something.

And the Karen Chance ones - Do those fit into her series somewhere? Need to be read in a certain order?

The Queen's Witch doesn't fit in the series. It's a bout a minor character: Kit Marlowe. There is a companion novella to that story in The Mammoth Book of Paranormal Romance #2.
The Day of the Dead is about Tomas who is in Cassie #1 and #2 and therefore has minor spoilers for those two books.

I just saw something on B&N's website today that caught my eye and I wanted to pass the info along!

If you have their nook software on either your phone, laptop, etc. And you bring that device into a B&N and show it to an employee, they will give you a voucher for a free ebook download. It says that the book this week is Storm Front by Jim Butcher! By the looks of things they'll have a new book each week. I'd assume that you could go in each week and get a new voucher.

Just thought that was interesting. I'll never pass up a free book!

I saw the B&N offer and stopped by my local store. Not only did they not really care that I had a Kindle, they gave me the code for the week one book (No 1 Women's detective agency or some thing like that.) If you dont have a Nook, I would still give it a shot!
