Julia | 6 comments I'm excited to be challenged to read 50 books in year. This used to be an easy thing for me but after going through what I've read so far, 8 books is a bit of a shortlist for me in just 6 months! I can't wait to get to 50!

1. On Rue Tatin by Susan Herrmann Loomis
2. The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova
3. Dear John by Nicholas Sparks
4. Dune by Frank Herbert
5. Not Even the Sandals: The Gospel of Luke by Brian McLaren
6. Think Like a Chef by Tom Colicchio
7. Suite Francaise by Irene Nemirovsky
8. A History of Violence by John Wagner

David Biagi (biagidp) Whatever, you've got it. You just have to stop playing Zuma long enough to pick up a book :-p

Julia | 6 comments Haha. Touché friend. I should stop playing Zuma...
but I have finished another book: #9. The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde. A worthy read, which is why I am on to the next!

Julia | 6 comments I've finished books 10 and 11 already!

10. Lost in a Good Book by Jasper Fforde
11. The Whole Story and Other Stories by Ali Smith

Both are good reads. I feel as though I need to read Smith's again because she packed it so tightly with so many ideas. "Lost" was a fun, quick read, which makes me want to jump into the next in the series. But first, I have to finish Cloud Atlas--a must reader from the Mann-Booker Shortlist in '04 and other prestigious awards that year.

Julia | 6 comments I still haven't finished Cloud Atlas... but I finished book 13. The Well of Lost Plots by Jasper Fforde and I LOVED it!

Jamie (jlynnd1977) | 396 comments I just started Cloud Atlas this week. I am at the half-way point, and honestly I am enjoying it. The first chapter threw me off but each chapter has gotten better. I'm very curious about the big "puzzle" part of the book. I'm expecting big things.

Julia | 6 comments 14. Something Rotten and 15. Thursday Next: First Among Sequels by Jasper Fforde are books not to miss! I'm so sad 'Sequels' was published in 2007. I'm ready for the next one. I hope there's a next one! Such fun book candy and easy reads. I really enjoyed them.
16. Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell-- snoozer. From a literary standpoint, I can see its merit because his technique is very good and his choice of material is interesting. But on the whole, very Victorian in a boring way. Disappointed. But no wonder, it has taken so long to make myself push through it!
