Romance Readers Reading Challenges discussion

Ok... This is a great topic! I will finally be able to keep track of all the books I read! Wunderbar! :-)
I'm at work now (bad girl), but I will start posting the books I read starting in March (when I joined GR, and started keeping track of my reading)

Ok... For the May Pick it for me! challenge, Yz the Whyz recommended Naked In Death, which I read in one sitting from 1am to 4am last night/this morning... I loved it, and am now reading Glory in Death, the second book.. Loved Roarke!

Update 05/12... After waiting 5 days for book 5, I now have the books till #9, and am now starting Vengeance in Death.. Still love it!

Contemporary: The Cinderella Deal COMPLETED 07/02
4.5 stars. I really enjoy JC's books: they always have the whackiest characters! Linc, who is far from being Prince Charming, is Daisy (the creative artist)'s polar opposite. When Linc pretends to have a fiancée to get his dream job, he convinces Daisy to "make-believe" for a weekend, and one weekend only. However, this being a JC novel, his employers suddenly want him to have a wife... Chaos naturally ensues... I liked the way Linc and Daisy didn't immediately fall in love.. It added a touch of reality to an unrealistic situation:-)

Historical - Prince Charming COMPLETED 09/29 & Gentle Warrior COMPLETED 07/05
Gentle Warrior : I loved this Garwood just as I do every other book she's written.. Geoffrey was a wonderful hero: strong, stubborn, and gentle with Elizabeth.. Garwood writes some of the best heroes I've read, even though I sometimes wish that the dénouements were a little more complex.. 5 stars:-)
Prince Charming : Another fabulous Garwood historical: Taylor marries Lucas Ross to save her nieces from her uncle's clutches, and then embarks on a cross-Atlantic journey to find them... Garwood has once again written a beautiful love story between a strong-willed beauty and a rugged mountain man.. I find all her stories beautiful, although lacking in angst... which isn't always a bad thing: I know that sometimes I just want a feel-good HR, where you know that hero and heroine are heading straight to a HEA:-) 5 stars!

Regency: Castles (Crown's Spies, #4) COMPLETED 08/12
I love regency romance and I adore Julie Garwood:-) I've loved all her books, including this one: Alesandra was a great heroine, sweet and gutsy, and Colin was a very hot hero.. I did prefer the first two books in the Crown Spies series (Lyon was my favorite hero) however.. The back story was a little unrealistic, but this one is a definite 5 stars for me:-)

Erotic: Rode Hard, Put Up Wet

BDSM: Club Shadowlands COMPLETED 07/09
I read this in a couple hours along with the second book, Dark Citadel... I don't usually read BDSM (some bondage and light D/s, but no more), but this was tastefully written, and I really enjoyed it, although I didn't find the characters quite as developed as I would have liked. And the plot was a tad unbelievable, lol, but altogether, I'd give it 4 stars:-)

PNR: Dead in the Family COMPLETED 07/09
Hmmm... I was expecting a more interesting story, and I was a little disappointed, seeing as I loved all of CH's other books.. I didn't find the characters that deep, and I wasn't fascinated by the story at all.. It was fun, but missing something: 3-3.5 stars for me:-)

Fantasy: Wizard's First Rule and The Crown of Crystal Flame COMPLETED 11/02*****
A great conclusion to the Tairen Soul series... A couple of secondary storylines are left hanging, but I guess it's to segue into the next books... I absolutely adore Rain and Ellie! And Gaelen(looove him), Bel, Kieran and Kiel!!:-)

Women's Fiction: My Sister's Keeper

Chick-lit: Boy Meets Girl COMPLETED 07/02
I'd give it 3.5 stars.. The story is told through letters/emails/diary entries, so although it does provide more of an insight it the different characters, I do prefer the more traditional novels where the hero and heroine are the focal point of the story (when you can see them actually interacting with one another, lol):-) It was fun and easy to read, but I'm not sure I'd read this one again:-)

GLBT: Rough, Raw and Ready COMPLETED 06/08 (my mistake!) or Wolf Tales I COMPLETED 08/01
I messed up with this category:-) Totally enjoyed Wolf Tales I, a sexy (if a little weird) book with "polyamorous" couples, where basically, anything goes.. I was a little weirded out by the light bestiality, but otherwise it was a pretty hot book:-) 4-4.5 stars
Then I have Rough, Raw and Ready (that I mistakenly already read in June), which was also very sexy... I'm comfortable with m/m if there's a woman in the relationship, just because I can relate more to the story (lol even if IRL I don't think I'd find anything like that).. Basically, a loving married couple comes face to face with the husband's (only) male lover.. I liked it:-) 4.5 stars..

Young Adult: Hush, Hush COMPLETED 07/04
4.5 -5 stars. Loved this book! I'd heard a lot about it, and have had it on my TBR for a while, but was reluctant to start yet another YA series whose next book I'll have to wait months for:-) I loved the way Patch forces Nora to admit to feelings for him, although he was a little too cocky for my tastes.. I was surprised by the revelation about his intentions, and the twist at the end has me desperately wanting to read the next book:-)

Non-Fiction: Sexual Homicide: Patterns and Motives

Bonus - Religious Romance: A Walk to Remember COMPLETED 08/24
I'd seen the movie and cried, but I was practically sobbing when I finished the book... Nicholas Sparks is very good at writing tear-jerkers:-) This book was probably more spiritual than religious, but I loved it: Jamie and Landon were such a perfect couple! Oh, but the tears I shed:-) 5 stars
