50 POINT TASK - LAND AMONG THE STARS
In the Swiss Alps, the night sky is usually very clear and filled with stars, which always remind me of one of my favorite quotes: "Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars."
Therefore, for this task, you must read THREE books (minimum challenge page requirements). Go to random.org and roll two dice (one roll only) for books B and C.
A. Read a book containing the words MOON, STAR, NIGHT, SKY or DARK in the title or series title. Plurals (stars), variations (darkly), and compound words (stardust, moongazer, skyscraper) all work. OR read a book with a star or moon on the cover.
REQUIRED: if you choose the cover option, you must include the cover in your post.
B. Roll a dice and see in which constellation you land:
1. Ursa Major: If you hit the Big Dipper, the most popular constellation, read a book from the first seven pages (Ursa Major has seven main stars) of the Favorite Books List
OPTIONAL: Mention whether or not this book will go on your "favorites" list
2. Gemini: Read a book from the "Kin" list
3: Hercules - the strongest man of mythology, therefore reread a book that has had a strong impact on your life. OPTIONAL: How has this book affected your life?
If you can't think of a particular book, choose one from the The Most Influential Books in History
4: Phoenix this mythical bird, according to legends, is immortal and will live long after we're gone.. therefore read a futuristic/sci-fi book
5. Leo: read a book featuring an animal on the cover or playing an important role in the plot. Mythical creatures (phoenix, basilisk, dragon,...) are allowed (but no human shapeshifters). REQUIRED: either post the cover or describe how the animal is central to the plot.
6. Corona Borealis, the Northern Crown: read a historical fiction book (a book set 30+ years before it was written)
C. There are many forms of stars, so roll the dice again, and find out which of my favorite stars you land on:
1. Matthew Macfadyen as... Mr Darcy: Read a classic chosen from the first 10 pages of the following list: Popular Classics Books
2. Sean Connery as... James Bond: Read a mystery/thriller.
3. Dougray Scott as... the Prince (in Ever After: a Cinderella story): read a fairytale or fairytale/mythology/folklore retelling. These lists may help: Myth and Folktale retellings and Best Fairytales and Retellings
REQUIRED: Mention which fairytale/legend your book is based on, and how you thought it compared to the original story.
4. David Boreanaz as.. Angel: Read a fantasy or paranormal book.
5. Clint Eastwood as..."Blondie": Read a western: a book set in the old American West (1807-1912), or during the settlement of the Australian Outback
6. Mel Gibson as... William Wallace: Read a book in which a war (fictional or not) plays a central role in the plot. REQUIRED: Mention what war your book relates to.

bookdepository again?

I ran into my high school Ancient Greek teacher last week (and no, did not put my car in reverse to do so again, lol), whose class, despite my distaste for the verb tenses, was one of my favorites. My favorite courses were the civilization ones where we learned everything from hygiene to mythology.
Therefore, for this task, you must read 2 books. Go to random.org and roll the die and read:
Book A
1. Zeus: a book where the main character is royal, or with a crown/tiara or scepter on the cover (cover must be posted for the cover option).
2. Hera: a book about family, or with family members on the cover or in the title. For the cover option, the family link must be described and the cover posted.
3. Poseidon: a book where the main character works/lives/depends on water (fisherman, ship captain, Navy, Marine, mermaid, pirate,...)
4. Hades: A book where the main character is considered dead (ghost, angel, vampire) or with "ghost", "grave", "cemetery" or "bones" in the title (variations work: i.e. "graveyard", "ghostly",..)
5. Ares: A book where the main character is in the military or with a mercenary outfit.
6. Demeter: A book where the main character is a farmer, rancher or lives off the land.
Book B
1. Aeschylus: read a book considered a tragedy/drama, or a sad book (i.e. Saddest Books or Books That Made You Cry)
2. Sappho: Read a romance
3. Herodotus: Read a historical fiction book (set 30+ years before it was written)
4. Homer: Read a fantasy or sci-fi (futuristic setting or set 30+ years after it was written)
5. Socrates: Founder of the dialectic method of learning, teach yourself something new by reading a non-fiction book on a subject of interest.
6. Aristophanes: Read a humorous or funny book. Books from the Best Humorous Books List and Books that made me LOL list work (but specify when posting what list you chose)

Difficult 9 + books for every type of heroine.
Outsider/Rebel/Bluestocking Heroine - Tough, self-sufficient, self-thinking woman who will not conform just because she's told to by others or because society dictates it. A person who wishes to control her is barking up the wrong tree.
Across a Moonlit Sea
Wallflower Heroine - Plain looking an overlooked by most but an extraordinary type of woman that excels at everything but small talk. Needs someone who can look beyond the surface and see her inner beauty.
Professional Heroine - Sometimes mistaken as being a bitch for using her authority, but she just knows how to handle people and will not be pushed around. Needs someone not intimidated by her brain or her authority and can give as good as they take.
Rich Girl Heroine - Rich and smart and a little spoiled, but has a good heart. Needs someone who'll appreciate her for her and not her money.
Brainiac Heroine - Smarter than your average bear and willing to use that to her advantage. Needs someone that will not be intimidated by her brain and can hold their own.
Spinster Heroine - Thought to be too old to ever marry, but possesses hidden passion and is too smart to settle for anything less than she deserves. She needs someone that has it all.
Woman Warrior/Kick-Butt Heroine - Tough, self-sufficient, uncompromising and needs someone that won't change her and accepts her the way she is -faults & all.
Minx/She-Devil Heroine - Mischievous, feisty, and self-thinking. Will give a person a run for their money and will be well worth it.
Girl Next Door Heroine - She's pretty, smart, sweet, wholesome, but somewhat naïve. Most likely to fall for the boy next store.
