Terminalcoffee discussion

Here's the deal. This is today's list. It doesn't have to be the same as tomorrow's list or yesterday's list or even tonight's list. Ten things that make you smile RIGHT NOW.

Here's mine:
1. Leftovers. I love leftovers for lunch, whether they're from a homemade dinner or a meal out.
2. Lost. I'm still thinking about the finale, two days later.
3. The strawberry on my strawberry plant that is almost ready to pick, and the teeny tiny green bubbles that are going to become tomatoes.
4. Wilco - Jesus, etc. A pleasant song to get stuck in my head. One of my top two Wilco songs.
5. South Mountain Creamery's brand new ice cream.
6. Chuck. Light and clever TV fun.
7. My dog's mature if anti-social decision to turn his back on the adorable but overeager Cairn Terrier puppy instead of trying to eat it when it charged him yesterday.
8. Playing "Retinol" across a triple word score against the Librarian.
9. My rugby team, the Bulls, winning their semi-final this past Saturday.
10. My cousin from Philly's unexpected appearance at my bar on Sunday.

Well this outta be interesting.

1. Glee. I think I'm at the point where I'm only watching it for the music, but I still love it.
2. My cello, Misha. I would be sad if I couldn't play regularly.
3. Life, the game. Sadly, I've lost most of the pieces.
4. Puppies. Who doesn't love puppies?
5. Love.
6. Yoga. Keeps me relaxed and just feeling good all-around.
7. Supernatural. Waiting for the next season is slowing killing me inside.
8. Baking cakes, simply because they're tasty.
9. Reading, since I am a book nerd and all.
10. Limericks. I listen to NPR's 'Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me' every week mainly for the limericks. :)

Ooh, I like this:)

1. I like sleeping on the front porch in the summer.
2. I like quesadillas.
3. I like Chicago's Millennium Park.
4. I like when my dogs lay across me and Pete puts his head on my neck.
5. I like enlarging pictures and displaying them in my office.
6. I like Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds on Jackie's shebang.
7. I like the fact I'm going to my son's "State Fair" at his middle school on Friday, where he's doing a display on Illinois, my home state.
8. I like that in a couple hours I'm giving Barb (not our Barb, a different one) this statue of St. Clare with a remote control in her hand:

9. I like the fact I'm going to walk an hour at lunch then lift weights later.

10. I like that we have a three day weekend coming up.

(By the way, Pi, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is one of my favorite albums ever, and your #4 is a great song.)

Ashley, I like that your cello has a name, and that you listen to Wait Wait for the limericks.

(RA. I agree. The other song in contention for favorite Wilco song is on that album too, but it's kind of tonally opposite - "I'm the Man Who Loves You".)

1. My daughter - she is such a blessing and she makes me smile constantly.

3. Swimming. The smell of an indoor pool.

5. Having an amazingly close and supportive family - parents and sister specifically.

Chantelle, I know what you mean about the smell of a pool. I love that smell, too.

1. the sun always makes me feel better, regardless of the rest of the weather
2. there's no limit to the amount of tea i can drink and it's even better when it comes from a real tea pot
3. purring cats are pure happiness
4. as are good and interesting books
5. music to match or improve my mood, bonus points for making me want to dance, naked or not
6. the smell of fresh mowed grass, before my hay fever makes my eyes itchy
7. a movie that doesn't wear me out, but instead gives me energy
8. conversations with good friends and family
9. the days i look good in everything and my hair agrees with me
10. meeting that one interesting person at an otherwise boring party

funny how just ten things can tell you so much about a person. i keep thinking of things to add to my list.

1. The spray of lavender I have hovering over my desk - I picked it from my garden. And there's LOTS more to be picked. :)
2. Robby. Duh. Robby always makes me happy.
3. Robby's buddies - Dutch and Stella (our roommates)
4. HOLY FREAKING MASSIVE FLOWER GARDEN - our garden is WAY happy this summer. I love it!
5. The wall of kid pictures I have hanging on the bulletin board behind my desk makes me v. smiley
6. My nephews
7. The Munchkin!!! She's so sweet and she told me last week that when she grows up she wants to be a babysitter like me because I make it seem fun! Dawww... yay! Sweet angel baby.
8. I'M LEAVING FOR VACATION SOON (tomorrow or Thursday.... shhhh, it's mostly a secret I'm trying to keep from several people, so shhhh - my mom knows and she's the only one who needs to know since she's going to be putting a roof over my head during my visit)!!! :D

RA, do you wake up just so you can pet your dogs or snuggle with them? I do that sometimes. Robby's always a good sport when I wake him to do that. I just can't help it.

I LOOOVE those little guys! I think I watched those two videos several times each, and they made me laugh every time.

The dogs are young enough to be crazy excited if I wake early, Heidi...this morning I let them out at 2AM and they peed for about a minute straight, so I think they were happy to see me up.

3. Getting asked to give somebody a ride home on the same day that two library holds come in (the library is near her house)

I know it, it keeps me busy too. :p I wanna be home with my kid for a month or two.

Here's three things that make me happy:

(I think about them on every walk I take lately and its time to post)

1. The smell of Russain Olive trees in bloom.
2. The smell of rain on hot pavement.
3. When strangers wave and say hello and are nice just because they see you with a baby so they think "hey, she's taking care of a little human, how bad could she be?" People are way friendlier now than I've ever seen them before. It is nice.
