Tips for Self Promotion, Sales, and Advertising discussion

Following Tom's excellent example, I'd like to compile an Amazon list for Non-Fiction books. I need 40 titles, first come, first served. If there are not enough titles submitted by Goodreads authors, I shall add books from the general marketplace. The title will be 'Fascinating Non-Fiction books' or similar. (Suggestions gratefully received.)

Why? Well Tom has explained very clearly the benefits of appearing on an Amazon list here http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/3... so I won't bore you by repeating it all.

Instructions: (copied and pasted from Tom's thread)

PRIVATE MESSAGE me here on GoodReads the following information. Do NOT give me your information on this thread; I will ONLY add those books submitted to me via private message.

1) Your book's title.

2) ISBN number (must!)

3) Genre (be very specific, eg Christian mystery, African American romance, hippy self-help, etc.)

4) 150 CHARACTER - not words! - synopsis of your story. No more than 150 characters, please!

5) Only 1 (ONE!) book per author per list. You decide: paperback or kindle.

I will let you know when the list is up (I shall put it on both .com and .co.uk) and ask you to vote it as 'helpful'.

Voting Instructions: (again copied from Tom's thread)

At the top right of the list it says this:

Read: X times
Rated: X out of X helpful
Rate it! Do you find this list helpful?
YES or NO

Obviously you will want to click YES. Then you will get a message that says: "Thank you for your feedback."

HOWEVER - and this is important - leave the page OPEN for several minutes AFTER you vote so that your vote "sticks"!!! Then refresh the page to see that the Rated # has increased with your vote. Amazon doesn't like voting and running, and lots of times your vote will disappear if you leave the page immediately after voting. Again: leave the page OPEN after voting.

It is entirely to your book's benefit to have as many votes as possible on this list. So make sure your vote took! Ask your family and friends with Amazon accounts to vote. The point of being on this particular list is not just to have your book on a list - anyone can do that - but to have it voted on A LOT so that Amazon will rank your book higher in its algorithms. That's how their formula works.

Hi! None of you are too late as I'm compiling two lists.

However, I'm currently under house arrest and on the point of evacuation in Bahrain, (NOT JOKING) so I have other things on my mind... Will make a great final chapter to my next book though :)
