Stacie H. (staciemh) | 75 comments Hey all! I am looking for a great series or stand alone that is funny. I have been going through a whole bunch of craziness lately and just need a good laugh. To narrow this down I have read most of Katie MacAlister's books, the Jane Jameson series, the Broken Heart,OK series, the Queen Betsy series...so, what else is out there? Any suggestions?

Jen ~The dreamer~ | 649 comments I thought the Georgina Kincaid series was pretty light hearted, imo. I laughed a lot at the banter between the characters.

ஐAndreaஐ (rosesrrblue) | 707 comments I love the Succubus series and it totally cracked me up in parts. Succubus Blues (Georgina Kincaid, #1) by Richelle Mead

Right now I'm reading the Stephanie Plum Series (not PNR) but it's hella funny. I find myself laughing out loud all the time. One for the Money (Stephanie Plum, #1) by Janet Evanovich

Jen ~The dreamer~ | 649 comments Are You There Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea by Chelsea Handler is freaking hilarious!

ஐAndreaஐ (rosesrrblue) | 707 comments That was funny too!!! Chelsea Handler is great

I laugh out loud all the time reading these books, they are just so funny, and you can find them at the library, target, walmart, they are everywhere- One for the Money (Stephanie Plum, #1) by Janet Evanovich

Sandy | 449 comments Anyone But You by Jennifer Crusie is funny and a fast read

message 10: by Shelly (new)

Shelly (mashbay) Lynsay Sands books are great. They are a series, but I didn't read them in order. My favorite one was Accidental Vampire.

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 411 comments I would recommend Shelly Laurenston, her books are really funny. She has several series, the one I like the best is the Pride Series:

The Mane Event (Pride, #1) by Shelly Laurenston The Beast in Him (Pride, #2) by Shelly Laurenston The Mane Attraction (Pride, #3) by Shelly Laurenston The Mane Squeeze (Pride, #4) by Shelly Laurenston Beast Behaving Badly (Pride, #5) by Shelly Laurenston

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 411 comments Or Gail Carriger her books are funny, they are:

Soulless (The Parasol Protectorate, #1) by Gail Carriger Changeless (The Parasol Protectorate, #2) by Gail Carriger

The others in the series aren't out yet

I'll second the recommendation for Shelly Laurenston. She also writes as G.A. Aiken. All of her books are funny. Jennifer Cruise is also a writer with a sense of humor. Almost all of her stuff is contemporary, but she has a paranormal out with her writing partner called Wild Ride. I haven't read it, but it's gotten some good reviews. My favorite Crusie is Getting Rid of Bradley. There are quite a few contemporary romances that are good for a laugh.

Gin (gynh) | 32 comments I enjoyed Bloodsuckng fiend, you suck and bite me. A vampire series that is witty and fun.

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 411 comments Christine Warren's books are also quite funny. I quite like her Others series.

If you like contemporary romance then I would also recommend Susan Elizabeth Phillips, her Chicago Stars books are funny as well.

Lol I keep thinking of all these series now : )

ஐAndreaஐ (rosesrrblue) | 707 comments I really liked Soulless & changeless too!

message 18: by Lindsey (new)

Lindsey (mammalynz) | 2 comments okay I LOVE funny books! so i have several suggestions, I also really loved Lynsay Sands books and I totally agree that Accidental vampire was one of the best but Janet Evanovich is one of my favorites and I have read everything by her. you might also try Vicki Lewis Thompson, she has a series about nerds which is pretty great, but her Hexed series is really outrageous and lighthearted the first book is Over Hexed. If you want some that aren't really just laugh out loud but still lighthearted and fun you might try Christie Ridgeway all of her books are pretty fun and fast reads, Also there is a book by Wendy Wax Called Leave it to Cleavage that is pretty great... oh and Also Charlotte Hughes Book called What looks like Crazy...

Told you I had a bunch! good luck!

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 411 comments ஐAndreaஐ wrote: "I really liked Soulless & changeless too!"

I have only read Soulless, as I want to wait for the 3rd one to come out, but I really liked them! Everytime I go on Amazon I am tempted to just give in and buy it!

message 20: by ஐAndreaஐ (new)

ஐAndreaஐ (rosesrrblue) | 707 comments It was really good, but I have to say at the end of 2 I was pretty pisssed that I had to wait so long for 3. I wish I would have waited too. . .

Not exactly 'rolling-on-the-floor' funny, but still a delightful, funny read.

Enchanted, Inc. (Book 1) by Shanna Swendson Once Upon Stilettos (Enchanted, Inc., Book 2) by Shanna Swendson Damsel Under Stress (Enchanted, Inc., Book 3) by Shanna Swendson Don't Hex with Texas (Enchanted, Inc., Book 4) by Shanna Swendson

Shelly (mashbay) I really like Soulless, but struggled a little with Changeless. Looking forward to the next one.

Sandra J Weaver (sandraweaver) | 451 comments I'm in something of a PNR slump right now. I have the Laurenston books and Soulless (fabulous!), all of Jayne Castle's books, some of Queen Betsy (I gave up after book #4), and the BDB. I'm not a fan of UF particularly. I just bought The Hob's Bargain by Patricia Briggs and have read the first of her Alpha and Omega series (no desire at this time to read more). I'm also about a third of the way through Ilona Andrew's On the Edge. Any suggestions?

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 411 comments Out of that selection I would either read the Laurenston books, On The Edge or BDB.

Infact scrap that I would jump into BDB!

message 26: by Joanne (new)

Joanne (needsun) | 32 comments Have you read the Arcane Society books by Jayne Ann Krentz/Amanda Quick (Jayne Castle)? She makes reference to this society in her Jayne Castle books.

message 27: by new_user (new)

new_user | 1389 comments Stacie, try the Chicagoland Vampires series. Those book read like you're talking to your best girlfriend. She's so witty.

Sandra, which books have you liked?

message 28: by Sandra J (last edited Jun 26, 2010 11:53AM) (new)

Sandra J Weaver (sandraweaver) | 451 comments I love, love, love anything by Krentz/Quick/Castle and have read them all. I've also read all the Laurenstons (except for Beast Behaving Badly which is for a July challenge), and all of the BDB. Now I'm looking for something else. I'm at a sticking point with On the Edge for some reason. I look at it and shrug and pick up a Linda Howard or a Jane Castle reread. I've also read a number of Nora Roberts' paranormals like the Key trilogy and enjoyed them. I'm definitely more PNR than UF.

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 411 comments have tried Kresley Coles Immortals After Dark series? They are a really good PNR series

message 31: by Sandra J (new)

Sandra J Weaver (sandraweaver) | 451 comments I think I have a Kresley Cole in my TBR mountain. Sometimes I forget what the heck is in there till I attempt to clean it out. I'll have to dig through it to see. I know there's a Kenyon in there that I've tried to read three or four times. I've never gotten past the first 20 pages. Maybe I'll give that one more try, too, before I dump it at the UBS. Thanks for the suggestions!

The Readings of a Busy Mom Riaz (smoocy) | 16 comments let me know what you think of the Kresley Cole ones i read her Passion of a Dark Prince recenly and was in love with it.

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 411 comments I have also read them all and can't wait to read the next one. Foolishly i read the excerpt of the new book (on Kresley Coles website) and it has now left me longing for more!

The Readings of a Busy Mom Riaz (smoocy) | 16 comments yeh i get that i try nt to read anything on abook when i uy it as i feel the excerpts and synopsis are giving too much away nowadays.
