Oh, you're in for a treat! The Time Traveller's Wife and Twilight are two of my all-time favourite books!

message 3: by Blarneygod (new)

Blarneygod I think it is very cool that we have two of the same books on our list!!! I too have The Time Traveller's Wife and Twilight on my to read list!!! Let me know what you think of them. I enjoyed Morrigan's Cross, but not as much as Robert's older books. It had its slow moments but over all I loved that series. warning it is predictable but most romances are;) As i said before that is what I love about them:)

TheReadingKnitter/ Kasey (thereadingknitter) I'm just getting into the Time Traveler's Wife. It's really just okay to me. Like I want to be done with it so badly but then I also want to know what happens next. It's different.

TheReadingKnitter/ Kasey (thereadingknitter) I finished the Time Traveler's Wife. It was an okay storyline for me. I just hated the feeling that I'd been reading it forever, but I think I felt that way because it started out so slow for me. Now I'm on to Twilight. :)

TheReadingKnitter/ Kasey (thereadingknitter) Okay...I'm going to kind of redo my list...I'm just going to make a list of 6 books that I wanna read and then the next time I go to the library that will be the 6 I pick up. :) Hope that's okay instead of doing the monthly thing.

1. Twilight by Stephanie Meyer
2. A Dirty Job by Christopher Moore
3. Salem's Lot by Stephen King
4. The Witch of Portobello by Paulo Coelho (another group I am in is reading this)
5. The Key to Midnight by Dean Koontz
6. Harvesting the Heart by Jodi Picoult

Brenda (brendasue) Have you ready many of Joe Picoult's books? I've read a few, including Harvesting the Heart. It's a good read, not her best, but definitely not her worst. You'll enjoy it I think. The only one of hers I've read that I didn't really enjoy was Songs of the Humpback Whale, which was also her first book. I just didn't think the story had the quality of some of her others. Enjoy! I'll be interested to see what you think.

TheReadingKnitter/ Kasey (thereadingknitter) Yes I have read many of her books. I'm trying to read all of them and I've got this OCD thing aout reading the books in the order that the author wrote them. This OCD thing just took over probably about 6 months ago. Anyhow Harvesting the Heart is next on the list. My favorite of her's so far is My Sister's Keeper or The Pact. I too did not care for Songs o the Humpback Whale. I found it boring and very hard to read through.

TheReadingKnitter/ Kasey (thereadingknitter) I finished Twilight last night and started A Dirty Job today. Twilight was good it just took me till page 275 or so to get into it. Now I'm number 7 on a waiting list to get it from the library. I've already requested The Host and Eclispe and I'm numer 24 and number 7 on those.

TheReadingKnitter/ Kasey (thereadingknitter) Well, I couldn't get into A Dirty Job at this time. So I decided to put it down and I started Salem's Lot by Stephen King. I'm kind of getting into it. Gonna read a few more chapters and if I can't get into it then I'll go to something else. haha.

Kasi, actually the idea is to get rid of some of the books you already own but haven't read yet - not to get books out of the library.

But of course, if you have no unread owned books then GOOD ON YOU! (I have 80+, so I'm impressed), and by all means use this group to get rid of some of the books on your to-read-not-owned list :)

TheReadingKnitter/ Kasey (thereadingknitter) I rarely ever get to buy books. Don't get me wrong I would love to buy books everytime I stepped foot out of the house but we can't afford it so I'm having to like the library. haha

Hehe. I've discovered bookmooch.com and my number of owned unread books grew drastically after that ;)

TheReadingKnitter/ Kasey (thereadingknitter) hehe...I was gonna try that and then realized I didn't really have any books I was willing to get rid of! haha

TheReadingKnitter/ Kasey (thereadingknitter) I've read Salem's Lot and Twilight now...

TheReadingKnitter/ Kasey (thereadingknitter) I just got done reading the second book in the Twilight series, New Moon. It was pretty good. Now I'm starting on Harvesting The Heart by Jodi Picoult.

TheReadingKnitter/ Kasey (thereadingknitter) Finished Harvesting The Heart last night...Going to create a new list now...

1. Uglies by Scott Westerfeld
3. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
3. Eclipse by Stephanie Meyer
4. Mercy by Jodi Picoult
5. The Key to Midnight by Dean Koontz
6. Drop Shot by Harlan Coben

message 18: by Mads (new)

Mads Oh, I thought The Book Thief was excellent--I hope you enjoy it.

TheReadingKnitter/ Kasey (thereadingknitter) We are reading it in a book club that I am in and it looks interesting...

TheReadingKnitter/ Kasey (thereadingknitter) I finished Uglies and another book called Sisters today. I'm starting on Eclipse by Stephanie Meyer next because if I didn't get a chance to read it and took it back to the library there would be a long waiting list on it...Like I'd be number 20!

TheReadingKnitter/ Kasey (thereadingknitter) I finished Eclipse by Stephanie Meyer and now I'm going to read Island of Flowers by Nora Roberts before The Book Thief because I feel like I need a light read before I start another deep book. It should also be a quick read.

Brenda (brendasue) How is the Stephanie Meyer series? I have the first 2 books and was thinking about reading them next. I'll also be anxious to hear what you think about The Book Thief as I have that on my list of books to purchase.

Personally I love Stephenie Meyer's series, but it's a series that very much divides people into "love it" and "hate it", so I while I think it's worth reading (obviously, since I fall in the former group ;) ) it's probably best if you read it without too high expectations. It's not "high class lit" - it's YA and should be taken as such.

I thought The Book Thief was okay, but not amazing.

TheReadingKnitter/ Kasey (thereadingknitter) The deeper I get into the Twilight series the more I like it. When I read Twilight, the first book, I wondered what all the hype was about. When I read New Moon it got deeper and I liked it more. And then Eclipse just left me hanging in the end and makes me want to read Breaking Dawn.

I've just started The Book Thief and it will really have to go somewhere soon or I don't know if I will continue to read it.

TheReadingKnitter/ Kasey (thereadingknitter) I just finished The Key to Midnight by Dean Koontz. Don't know what I'll read next...Kind of going through a picky spell. I'll read the first few pages of a book and not be interested enough to go on...hehe...Maybe I'll read another of Dean Koontz's books next...We'll see...

TheReadingKnitter/ Kasey (thereadingknitter) I've started The Funhouse by Dean Koontz now. I've been very very picky here lately about books and I think it's beacuse I feel overwhelmed so much by my TBR list...SO, I am going to take it easy and just ready whatever I want to for a while. haha
