Do you still write letters/postcards?

Now I'm paranoid about what my mail carrier knows about me.
Yes I do, actually, even if my handwriting is completely illegible.

I'm a postcard fan.

I have a collection of postcards friends and family have sent over the years - they've all been postmarked and mailed from (insert fab location). Of course, I send postcards in kind.
When my nephew was old enough to understand the joy of getting snail mail, I made it my New Year's resolution to send him a letter each week. And I did that. He'd send mail back to me - often a picture he colored or drew or painted or a class assignment. Sometimes he'd just send me a piece of paper with "Dylan" written in a really large font. :)
Now my dad and I correspond regularly via snail mail.
I'm a big fan of it.
In fact, I have a group on FB - SNAIL MAIL IS THE SHIT. We don't do anything special in the group. It's just a fan page. That's all. Y'all should come on and join the SMITS party!!!
That is so cute Heidi.
When I was a kid I used to correspond with my grandmother, I always loved receiving mail from her.
I am a very sad correspondent now. Nothing, no letters, no postcards. :(

Yes, occasionally. I used to be a huge letter writer, starting in childhood. Now I'm down to a few a year. But I still have a big stash of stationery and notecards. And some of the letter press notecards for sale now are so adorable, I'm always tempted to buy them. I've also kept every letter I've ever gotten from a family member or close friends.

:) Thanks, Gail. I have to admit I had my selfish motives in doing it, though - my nephew lives 8 hours away, and I only see him may 2 times a year. At the time, I was feeling incredibly jealous that my sister's BFFs were all so very close to him because they'd get to see him at least once a week. I figured that if I sent letters (usually with a sticker or temporary tattoo or two), he'd remember me fondly. And he does! When I go to Houston, we always have a Dylan and Auntie Heidi Day, and he calls me on occasion to gossip.
We don't do the regular correspondence anymore - I've told him, though, that if he were to send me any mail, I'd write back immediately (stickers or treats implied).

I have one friend who I correspond with via letters. I love it. When I take a trip I ALWAYS send postcards to people. I love it. It is like a ritual from the past.
I don't really like to send Christmas cards, actually I don't like sending cards for any of the pressure-filled dates. Remembering to commemorate others' days of birth, anniversaries, days of fathers days for mothers, blah.

I love reading people's postcards at work and there is something about an actual letter... wrapping your love letters in a red ribbon and putting them in a shoebox in your closet for your kids to find. Sending/receiving letters from kids at camp. Even choosing your stamp and your postcard says so much about a person. Your penmanship reflects your age. Your mail carrier knows more about you than you realize.
