In a world so sick with pain,
I rack my brain.
There isn't much I can think of,
But that's only because of lack of love.
Reality sets in though,
and I realize loves not perfect; no.
The pain sets in,
and reality brings me back to my sins.
I'm riddled with them,
but that's because my perfection has yet to come.
Then reality speaks to me,
and I look at the sea as it greets me.
I fall.
Nothing's there to catch me.
And I look down to see
my funeral's turn out.
It's pretty darn good.
It's too bad though,
Reality just couldn't catch my glow.

is this reality?
this harsh world of hate?
can it possibly be real?
do we really accept it?
can this truly be the reality?
why does no one change it?
why are we stuck in this?
can we change our reality?
is it possible?

At times, we say love is cruel.
But the cruelty lives not in love,
rather in human errancy.
It is our sinful nature
That causes us
to deceive,
manipulate,
harm,
betray.
Herein the cruelty lies:
It is the Fall of Man.
True love,
Pure love,
Has no such cruelty.
It is the breath of God.
The way of the heavens
to life,
beauty,
passion,
joy.
Herein lies the reality,
The reality of love.
That love,
The true, pure love.
That is the love
I cannot wait to behold.

thanks :]
Poetry isn't really my thing, but I thought I'd have a go and gratefully acknowledge the help and advice I have received from Jan.
Why We read
Reality we do not want
Romance is what we crave
The exciting, imagined truth
That glorifies the brave.
We want a happy ending
Where life is always good
And love comes a-galloping
Where reality once stood.
Swooning lovers defying odds,
Demons trounced, dragons slain,
Together in their dream-lit world
Fair princess, bold knight again.

Thanks Alex, but I can't take all the credit.

Stephanie, I enjoyed yours too! Made me think! You are a great writer!
Kimathy, your poem was great! The concept is incredible. I totally agree with what you were saying, and I like the way it was written. Really, why does no one change our world if we're living in this hatred?
Kristen, I enjoyed your poem! It was written well and is VERY beautiful! I loved it!
David, your poem had a great concept! And it was written well! I like how it relates to books!
Everyone's poems are great. I just thought I'd tell you all that since I haven't posted lately!!

I dream of becoming a dancer.
Floating gracefully across the stage,
Lights shining in my eyes,
The audience applauding,
Having the time of my life.
But in reality, what are the odds?
There are millions with the same dream.
Can I be the one who makes it?
Or am I just a dreamer?
Should I face reality?
Lose hope, crush my dreams.
Or should I stay a dreamer?
Where at least I'd have a chance.
Even if it's a one-in-a-million chance.

Reality is,
a fickle thing,
and with pain and hardships,
reality can sting.
Reality is,
a state of sense,
where things are real,
real and tense.
Reality is,
an obstacle really,
for imagination is blocked,
for imagination is "Silly".
Reality is,
a thing of the past,
without free will and mind,
reality, will never last.

I lost myself
In a book....
And I went flying
And dreaming, and crying
And made new friends
And had a sad end...
Had a laugh, had a smile
A bad time for a while...
Sang a song, danced a dance
Had a whirlwind romance
In the past, I wore dresses
That were fit for princesses
Lived in castles
Lived in Spain
Sailed on tall ships
Went by train
Basked in sunshine
Sang in rain
Closed my book
I'm back again
To Reality.

Here I am
My reality
Confusion and hope run through my mind
Both happiness and sadness pass though my heart
Friendship is bittersweet
My dream, is someone else's reality
