Chris Haught (haughtc) | 916 comments Un Lun Dun was a very enjoyable experience to me. It's made me want to go out and get more China Miéville books.

What of his other stuff have people read? I have an ebook copy of Perdido Street Station, but I have a hard time focusing on a long computer-read. And I don't have a Kindle.

Still, some of his books look really good, and Un Lun Dun was good enough to vouch for his writing.

Dawn (breakofdawn) I haven't read any of his other works yet, but Perdido Street Station is definitely on my list to try. I'm interested to see if anyone else has any opinions on it or his other books!

Laurel I very much enjoyed The City & The City.

Elise (ghostgurl) | 1028 comments I started Perdido Street Station some years ago, but never finished it. I'm not sure why, but perhaps it was due to the profanity (which normally doesn't bother me much in books). It was kind of off putting, but I'd like to get back to it at some point. I'd definitely like to check out his other work. He's got an amazing imagination for sure.

Christine (chrisarrow) I was lukewarm after reading Perdido Street Station and The Scar. They weren't bad, but they lack something. Then I read Un Lun Dun. Loved it which led me to read The City & The City, which is very, very good. Start with that one.

Chris, I'm guessing (hoping) that

The City & The City does not have the weird dialogue issues (use of vernacular) that Un Lun Dun struggled with? (See http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/3... for the discussion on Mieville's use of the vernacular).
