"where to?" she whispered softly, reluctant to disturb the beautiful silence.

"okay, why don't we go up and fly to the house, check it out, you know? it's always easier for me up there, to help you out and stuff."

"jackpot"

"Hello?" she asked into the cool air, knowing that she was found.

"Sorry." she muttered, muffling her giggle fit with her sleeve. When it had passed, she stood up straight and looked at the voice.
"Who are you?" she asked

Jax sat, perched on a tree several yards from the line of the forest, and stared down at the confrontation.
He knew he wasn't noticed, and couldn't be, not easily anyway, when it was as dark as it was.
It was a group of girls, two seemed to be familiar with each other, while the other must have been a stranger. He didn't care much what happened, but they'd found their way near the tree he'd picked to sleep the night, and they'd woken him up quickly, his senses sharpened from years of experience with being discovered.
He watched.
***
((My other character will come in later.))

"If no one's gonna answer, blind girl is going to walk in anyways. I can't see, you know. I don't know what you're doing. Now, I'll ask again; Who are you?"
She tried, sighing.
((Campbell??? Can you help out?? Sorry, I know you justfot here, but.....it appearsthe oter 2 have dissapoeqred....))

June scowled a bit, her dramatic appearance ruined. What was the point if no one could see her?
"I'm irritated, if that's what you mean," she said, and then turned to the girl beside the blind one.
"And I suppose you must be her... Um... Aid, shall I put it?"
((I feel like I'm one of the scientists talking to Iggy while he gradually gets pissed off...))
***
Raven scowled back, openly.
"And I suppose you must be a... Um... Oh, I'm sorry, what might you be? A silly little girl skipping around like your in charge?" she asked, immediately jumping to the defense of her friend. "Or are you just a whiny half-wit wandering around in the dark? Go home."
***
Jax, who was watching in his tree, sat straighter with growing interest as the girls began to hiss and spit at each other.
When girls were offended, they jumped at each other like a physical blow had already been exchanged within the comment. He's never understood why, but he'd decided it did give them a fierceness that helped in certain situations.

I could say this: Jax let his eyes score the scars along the side of his arm.
Or I could say this: Jax's eyes were suddenly drawn to the still-healing scars all along his left arm, remembering the pulsing blood, the open flesh, the wafting smell of rot as the wound began to infect.
He could still feel how the blood had seared across his skin, leaving a warm trail down his forearm, dripping down to the grass, staining it a dulling rust color.
Marking his path.
He remembered the pain, the tearing whip against his skin, again and again... And he remembered why he had deserved those slashes.
He snapped his head back, away from the silvering scars, and let his mind wander elsewhere, to safer places.
Of course, that was not a real post, but it's an example of what you could do to make yours more fun to write. :D ))

"Who says I need an assistant? I just picked the lock of the house that you're occupying, without help. I think that I'll be alright without one. For your information, she's my friend."
She said, pausing.
"Oh, and I was only inquiring for a simple name, so there is no need to get huffy. You don't much impress me." She grinned.

"June," she said, in no way phased by the comment, "And I'm only living here for the next few days. I have nothing to steal, if that's what you're looking for," she added, scowling.
June's wings, which had been hidden for the past ten minutes, itched to release themselves, to inspire some respect in the two individuals. But they seemed confident enough to be considerable equals, and so she kept the feathery wings tucked inside her skin. After a moment, she asked, "And you two might be?"
***
Raven raised an eyebrow.
"Raven," she said, smirking, "Or at least that's what I call myself."
The malice playing in her eyes was unmistakeable. She already didn't like the girl, and she had no intention of getting to know her.
***
Jax's eyebrows raised even higher as the girls seemed to initialize some sort if temporary truce.
The delicate ways of the female had always been lost on him. He'd never known one well, only come across observing them when they happened to show up when he was minding his own business, as it was now. He hadn't actually known anyone all that well, not for an extended period of time, especially not anyone of the opposite sex.
A momentary admittance of how sad that sounded fluttered through his mind for an instant, but it was quickly dismissed as he returned his attention to the girls.
((Hahaha...))

"depends. Do you want my real name, cause I don't know that one, my name that I have been given, cause I don't enjoy that one, or the name that I go by, which is the only one I answer to?" she asked, a slight smile playing at the corner of her lips.
"Cause that one is Ve, pleased to meet you."
She felt a tingle, eyes on her back.
"By the way...we're being watched."
she felt it from the direction, pointing a steady finger towards where he was sitting.
"Right over there. I wonder, can you see what's there?" she asked.

He slightly adjusted how he moved, until he moved as part of the tree, rather than someone resting on the tree.
The leaves covered most of him, at the height he was at, near the trunck of the large oak. With it's amount of leaves, he knew it'd be hard to see him, it had taken him a moment to find a small gap to where he could see the girls, even.
But even so, he swayed gently to the rhythm of the wind to hide himself even further.
He vaguely wondered how the one girl had noticed him, originally facing the opposite direction....
***
Raven followed her friend's finger with her eyes, which came to rest on several large oaks nestled together about 45 yards away. She glanced at Ve cautiously.
"You're sure?" she asked slowly, doubtfully.
***
June's head snapped to follow the line of Ve's sight, or... The line of her sense, anyway.
"Could only be an animal, an owl somewhere in that tree maybe, staring at us...," she suggested, shrugging at the other girls.
Truthfully, she was afraid it was someone coming to get her. She'd always had dreams of the people who had... Created her, and she'd always been moving around, just to give herself some comfort.

"Positive. I've never been wrong before. It's not an animal...too big..too stelthy...."
She frowned, pulling her hand down.

"Wait. How do you know it's stealthy... Whoever... Or whatever... it is?" she asked, eyeing the blind one cautiously.
She had powers, too. It was true. She could talk to animals in a similar way that she talked to other people, but that was because she was... Wrong. A screw up. Why could this girl do something strange?
***
Jax heard everything, but he didn't pause in his movements. Some part of him registered how strange the comment was, but another part was urging him to ignore it and focus.
***
Raven glanced at June.
"Rule 1. Don't doubt the freak senses," she said, flipping a hand in the air to gesture to Ve, "I'll explain the others when they come around."
She stared hard at the tree, but the leaves obscured her vision, even if she could see many times further and sharper than a human.
"I think we should check it out."
***
Jax struggled not to stiffen at the comment, to avoid the natural instinct to stay hidden by not moving. It would only give him away. If he had to, he would approach them calmly.
But they wouldn't be able to get this far up a tree, would they?

Following her senses carefully, she worked her way to the base of it, put the palm of her hand against it. It automatically slowed down, moving lethargic. Except for one peice, moving at the same pace a's it previously was.
"Hello?" she said softly to the sillouhette.

He had wings, and if this girl could slow the movement of objects, was it possible that she had been... Experimented on, as well?
He knew it was a long shot. He hadn't known anyone like him for his entire life, but as he looked at the lethargic movements of the tree below him, entirely out of similarity with the movements of the wind he could still feel, he moved lower down the tree until he could be seen.
"So far you've sensed me 40 yards in the air on a tree 20 yards away, facing the opposite direction;" He flinched a bit at hearing his voice again. It was still the same, rather deep tone, but he hadn't spoken for... He couldn't even remember, "Tell them," he made a noncommittal gesture at the two other girls, "that I couldn't be an animal; and, finally, you slowed this tree down to an unnatural speed in this wind."
He didn't want to speak anymore, it felt unnatural to him by this point. So he kept silent, trusting she would know to explain.
***
Raven twitched at Ve's easy display of power, glancing wearily at June. They really shouldn't be flaunting what they could do when there were others around to see.
***
June met her glance with one of her own, and winked as if she already knew their secret.
In truth, she thought she did.

Then she felt the corner of her lip twitch up slowly on one side, a smirk spreading across her face.
"Well, since we're speaking, I'd like to bring to light how you Moved perfectly with the tree's movements in the wind, were completely silent, and got all the way up that high and back down low so quickly. Also, I can hear something twitching from on your back, suggesting something different about you, a growth, or maybe a mutation of some sort...." she suggested, unsure, prompting him to talk. She raised an eyebrow, pairing it with her smirk to control the conversation.

"Damn," it was barely a whisper, but with her senses, he knew she heard it. From his position, now about 30 yards above ground, he flexed his wings out to their full length of 16 feet on each side, a light gray that darkened to the color of the full night at the tips, and with a powerful downward stroke, leaped from the tree and slowly brought himself to the ground, feathers nearly soundless, even against the wind.
He brought them back to himself once he was standing just a few yards from the girl, and not much further from the other two.
That was answer enough.
Silence was Jax's only ally. He'd hid within it for years, hiding himself from everyone else, wherever he went. But this girl could sense right through every barrier he could create around him with it.
And so she already knew enough. She didn't need his voice, too.
***
Raven raised both eyebrows.
"Well, that pretty much knocked all secrecy out of the water," she said, and with a flourish, released her Jet black wings, the purple streaks just barely showing in the moonlight.
((Haha, "with a flourish" that's a pretty old joke, isn't it?))
***
June chuckled.
"Ditto," she said sourly, and let out her grey-blue wings, pale in the dim light.

"Glad we all got that out." she paused, sighing. " I don't know about you guys, bu I feel significantly better about this whole situation." she said calmly.

And if you would like to take over Raven or June, you can. Somebody made the characters, but left before they could RP them, so I took them over, but I can't really Roleplay all three of these characters because they can't quite talk without me just writing the entire conversation.
So do you want to take over June and Raven?))
Jax didn't respond immediately.
He was weighing his options. All three of these girls had extremely showy, bright, noticeable wings. They had been extremely loud, just a few minutes ago, talking among each other in plain sight; even if it was dark, he'd never do that.
They were all loud, and even seemed proud of their... Mutations. The more he thought about it, the more he was certain that he'd have to break his oath of secrecy to himself if he were to stick around with these other avian hybrids.
But he would be around people for one of the few spare times in his life. People he didn't have to hide from.
But did he want that if it meant talking, walking among people, standing in the open light?
He ended up remaining silent.
***
Raven cast a curious glance at Jax, before walking forward to stand in front of him. "You match. Completely. I mean, June's wings match her eyes, but you match like Ve matches. Your hair and eyes completely blend with the color of your wings," she stepped back a bit to widen her view, and glanced back and forth between Ve and Jax. "Very stylish, I gotta say."
((Sorry, she had to say something))
***
June rolled her eyes to the heavens.
How quickly would they trust the new bird hybrid? Oh right away, go ahead. He's stylish.
"So, why were you up there? What was so interesting to you?"

Ve smiled wryly, nodding.
"I'm sorry if they blind you. I'll fold them back in. I don't know why they made them so bright, I can't fly properly unless up high, where I'll look like a bird."

Jax's eyes widened.
Holy sh!t.
He hadn't said anything.
She was like his worst nightmare. The only reason he had fled to hide in the shadows for his whole life was because he didn't want anyone to know who he was, didn't want anyone to know him, understand him, even see him if he could help it.
And now this girl comes along and just beaks through everything? What was he without the aura of silence he'd worked so hard to create?
***
Raven leaned over to whisper into June's ear. "Rule two. Don't think anything you might regret."
***
June sighed, annoyance audible in the exhale of air.

Ve shrugged, sensing them all in confusion, still not ever completely managing to tear her senses away from the boy.
"What?" she wondered.

Jax didn't bring up his theory, he'd keep it to himself.
"Do you know anyone else like this?" he asked, his curiosity overpowering the urge to remain silent.
From the look of confusion on the girl's face, he decided she must be perceptive enough to, at least, sense a sort of thought from someone.
It could just as well be mind-reading to Jax, for all the trouble it would cause him.
He'd find away out of this situation as quickly as he could, after he figured a few things out.
***
Raven spoke up.
"I don't know anyone."
***
Luna remained silent. He hadn't answered her question, and it made her uneasy that he had avoided it so completely.

"Nope." she said, popping the "p" expertly.
"Not one."
She thought.
"Well, other than Rav, but...."

He glanced around him once more.
"I should really go," he said, quietly, "I'm better off on my own."
He found himself a bit reluctant to leave the first company he'd had in at least a year, but he'd been fine by himself for long enough.
***
Raven gaped.
"So... He's just leaving?" she asked of no one in particular.
***
June snorted.
"Good riddance."

"Where are we headed?" she inquired after a moment, dead serious.
((Heehee....))

"Nowhere. I mean, you're staying with them, aren't you?" He asked, awkwardly. He glanced back to meet the eyes of the other two.
***
Raven winked, perfectly content to follow Ve's lead with this. She figured she could really have some fun with this guy.
***
June smirked at him.
She'd already subconsciously decided she wanted to stay with the two others, whether or not he came along would either relieve her or disconvinience her. But she wouldn't fight for his case, simply because she didn't want to be on his side. In anything.
She wasn't quite sure why.

This was exactly the reson he'd rather go alone.
***
Raven rolled her eyes. She sauntered forward and put an arm around Jax's shoulders, not letting go when he cringed away.
"Chill, man. We bird kids gotta stick together. You're not going anywhere without us."
***
June rolled her eyes. For the third time.
