Ley lines are defined as borders between worlds, where the different colors manifest because of the mixing of different atmospheres. So is it possible to exit a ley line into the other world?

message 5: by Mai (new) - added it

Mai (maisydaisy) I still have editing time. I'll add that.

message 6: by Mai (new) - added it

Mai (maisydaisy) Karen's answer:

You can fire through a shield, but you lose a lot of protection that way (in order to make it porous enough). In the case you mention, they weren't flinging spells, they were using magical weapons.

As far as exiting ley lines, you you can't go anywhere except Faerie (assuming you can make a portal that cuts through to there). That's what Artemis's spell did, it cut off access to earth through the lines. That's why Apollo attacked at that point.

Hmm....so the mages have magical weapons that shoot spells?

(view spoiler)

message 8: by Mai (new) - added it

Mai (maisydaisy) So it would seem. *eyebrow wigglings*

Mai (maisydaisy) I was just watching Back to the Future (extreme awesomeness) when I suddenly realised, holy crap, Christopher Lloyd is Marsden. Observe! Badass old guy? Check. Silvery cloud of hair? Check. Slight insanity? Check.

No British accent, though. KC said that Marsden is British.

message 11: by Mai (new) - added it

Mai (maisydaisy) S'truth.

message 12: by Kat (new) - rated it 4 stars

Kat | 237 comments Maybe CHristopher Lee? In real life he is actually a big heavy metal fan

message 13: by Mai (new) - added it

Mai (maisydaisy) I think he's too imposing really to be Marsden. He's over 6 feet tall, and he's got that booming voice. Besides, I can't look at him without seeing Saruman. Ah, Lord Of The Rings geekery.

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 1164 comments Some of those actor's role do get stuck in my memory. Like when I went to see the last Harry Potter movie and the ministry of magic representative reads the will....was it Anthony Curran...just can't get past the Markus Corvinus character from Underworld.

message 15: by Kat (new) - rated it 4 stars

Kat | 237 comments I know I loved that character... I just checked imdb btw Anthony Curran is not credited in the movie and I don't know the name of that character so I don't know who the actor was.

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 1164 comments Sorry....it was Bill Nighy. He was Rufus Scrimgeour in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. He did lots of plays and films. He is not even good looking, too strong a jaw and old...but he has done so much theater plays that he 'occupies' a role....makes me noticed compared to popcorn actors. I could see him do Cirano de Bergerac from Alexandre Dumas. Ha. I'm babbling again...gag me now.

Anna (aknas22) | 3 comments I'm listening to this book on audio right now and I'm at the part where Caleb, Cassie, and Pritkin go into MAGIC after the ley line exploded. It just hit me that the creatures she and Caleb killed where part of Radu's menagerie. Also there were a few in the other rooms. Guess Radu didn't take them all with him.

Scarlet Heavens | 361 comments I remember that, though it has been a year and half since I read the books. That was a very memorable part of the book, when MAGIC got hit and they went inside. Also, Cassie found an album full of pictures of a dark haired woman, that's Mircea's daughter, right?

Josie | 643 comments Yep. The very same!
Also, the books are very good to reread *cough* looking at Scarlet *cough* hehe :)
We're planning a reread just before HtM comes out right? It'd be good to read more awesomeness.
Oooo... so excited! Going to pre-order HtM in the next week or so!!!! :D

message 20: by Mai (new) - added it

Mai (maisydaisy) Oh yeah! Must do that over Christmas! However at the moment I must suffer exams :(

Of course I am gonna re-read it. I always do that when I wait for a book to come out. You see, I started reading about Dorina, but I still haven't finished the first book, because I am way to busy with school, so I was just wondering if she was the very same woman, or Mircea had really had someone else, though it will be understandable, considering he's so old :)
Anyways, first the books about Dorina, then those about Cassie, and maybe June will come sooner that way :)

Cara (luckychance) | 2 comments My question is who's the girl in marcea photo album with brown hair? Is it Dorina?

Damali Yep, it's Dorina.

message 24: by Cara (new) - rated it 5 stars

Cara (luckychance) | 2 comments Thanks thats who I thought but it just seems weird tho that he would have a whole book of her.

Damali Lol! When you have eternity, you do weird stuff like that. :)

Kathy Davie (kathydavie) | 457 comments Wait a minute. Why is it weird? Dorina's his kid. Why wouldn't he have pictures of his own child?

Natasa (natasalikes) | 85 comments Somewhat agree with Kathy... and anyway vampirism /is/ all about stalking...

message 28: by Kat (new) - rated it 4 stars

Kat | 237 comments because he was always keeping an eye on her, even when she didn't want him around. He was trying to make sure she was ok. At least that's how I am reading into it.

Kathy Davie (kathydavie) | 457 comments Well, isn't that a parent kind of thing to do??

Francis Rose Trail (frankieluvsasuke) | 28 comments Best part of the entire book, besides the closet scene with Pritkin and Cassie, was when the two had switched bodies. FUNNIEST SCENES EVER! I laughed so hard I cried. Also when Pritkin storms in Auguste's store at the end while Cassie and Mircea are talking and scream "YOU SHAVED MY LEGS!" I rolled off my bed and was lying on the floor holding my stomach laughing so hard that I thought I might die.

This book of course had, yet again, good action scenes.

And I feel so bad for Marco. How is he suppose to control where Cassie goes? SHECAN SHIFT THROUGHOUT SPACE AND TIME! Mircea is way too hard on him. Mircea needs to be less controlling.

Aileen | 867 comments I literally ROFL'd when I read the part of them switching bodies. Well...more like rolled around on my BED laughing but still...and I sooooooo agree, her shaving his legs and them him FREAKING OUT may STILL be my favorite part of ANY of the Cassie books. It is just TOO hysterically funny for words.

Lannister (lannisteruk) | 10911 comments I think it was Cassie's horror at Pritkin's, um, Morning Glory that made me laugh so much. The way she would push it down and it would bob right back up again! I'm laughing even thinking about it!! :D

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 1164 comments And the slightly chilled comment from Pritkin....don't want to freeze his balls off. :)

Lannister (lannisteruk) | 10911 comments Yeah, poor guy! So instead she shaved his legs. See, if he'd let her have the cold shower she wouldn't have lingered long enough to get ideas like that!

Aileen | 867 comments I about DIED laughing when I read this book. Not just the whole Pritkin thing, though that helped, I heard you extend your life five minutes because of laughing...I think I probably just added like two years from cracking up like a loon on loon tablets from this book.

Lannister (lannisteruk) | 10911 comments "a loon on loon tablets"

Thank you, you just extended my life by five minutes!! :D

Aileen | 867 comments LOL you are very welcome!! It is a phrase I quite enjoy, but sadly, I do not laugh like that often...it's frowned upon in many social situations sadly...

Kathy Davie (kathydavie) | 457 comments Yup, I just got another 5 minutes too!

Gypsi Babii (gypsibabii) | 114 comments OMG i just finish reading Curse the Dawn. I too just good 5 mins back. This book had me crying because i was laughing so hard. I am in love with Pritkin in this one. I can no wait to start the next one.

Aileen | 867 comments I am soooo proud that everyone is laughing like loons, we don't do it enough obviously.

Lannister (lannisteruk) | 10911 comments Yup, we need to have a national holiday: Laugh Like a Loon Day, in honour of Aileen! :D

Gypsi Babii (gypsibabii) | 114 comments Lannister wrote: "Yup, we need to have a national holiday: Laugh Like a Loon Day, in honour of Aileen! :D"

I second that

Cameo | 1046 comments Mod
Agree! :D

And OMG Lannister I had totally forgot about the morning glory Cassie has to...uhm...deal with XD How is that even pssible to forget?! *hiding behind a bush in shame*

Lannister (lannisteruk) | 10911 comments Leodora!! How could you forget that!! *stunned* That was one of the highlights of the book for me LOL! Pritkin and his most perfect part LMAO!

Cameo | 1046 comments Mod
I don't know! I'm dying of shame right now! For that I'm devoting my entire evening to reading! Ohhh naked Pritkin stuck in my brain... it's a good monday ^^

Aileen | 867 comments I agree that not only is having a laugh like a loon day in honor of me AWESOME but also great to be done while reading these books!!! Since...well....they make me laugh so hard!!

Lannister (lannisteruk) | 10911 comments Leondora, yes, that's your punishment. You must stay in and reread that scene until you've MEMORIZED it. Wait a minute, what the hell kind of punishment is that?? :D

Aileen, LOL, well, you made us all laugh, so you deserve a day dedicated to you. We could have a Cassie day too, maybe on 1st April, cos that's another day full of small catastrophes. Dory can be 5th November, which is Guy Fawkes Night in the UK, celebrated with fireworks and small explosions!

Kathy Davie (kathydavie) | 457 comments Oh, yeah, all three holidays work for me!

Aileen | 867 comments Lol the only thing is...wouldn't Guy Fawkes day have to be for Cassie because of the opening of Curse the Dawn???? Wouldn't that just be SOOO FITTING!! Or or or...we could have that day be for BOTH Cassie AND Dory as hope that in the next book, whether it be Dory's next one or Cassie's, that they MEET!!!!

Lannister (lannisteruk) | 10911 comments LOL, yeah, a joint day would work for Cassie and Dory in honour of their meeting! (Which sadly I don't think will be in the next book).

Pritkin, being a druid, could have the Summer Solstice as his day, since that's a big day on the Druid calendar. And Mircea just has to be Halloween. I've decided Marlowe is Christmas Day, cos I want him gift-wrapped with a big bow tied round his head. Ahem.
