Loretta (lorettalucia) This schedule looks great! Thanks for pulling it together, Andrea.

The Stand is going to be my book for tomorrow (Saturday), so I should be all caught up with week 8 by tomorrow evening.

message 3: by Amy (new) - added it

Amy (bibliocrates) Okay. I've readjusted my sticky tabs ;)

Nathalie (natjen29) Great schedule. I love to have it finished by the end of the year!! Although I spend a serious amount of my friday evening reading this weeks installment :)

Andrea I'm behind this week so I'll also be spending my day reading the Stand as soon as I fifnish a library boo that has to go back! Ohhh boy, busy day :)

message 6: by Nathalie (last edited Oct 16, 2010 08:28AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Nathalie (natjen29) Is it just me, or are the chapters getting lenghtier? :)

Andrea Nope, it is not just you, the chapters are getting much longer!

message 8: by Kristi (new)

Kristi (kristicoleman) Looks like I'd better put up a Nomination thread next month for a contemporary novel too! Your schedule looks great!

Andrea Yup, I was thinking that the next 10 weeks will go by fast!

Nathalie (natjen29) I hope so Andrea, for more than one reason.. ;)

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) Thanks for the updated schedule, Andrea. I will catch up as soon as I get my book back from my sister's :(

message 12: by Kristi (new)

Kristi (kristicoleman) Lyn, sorry you don't have your book! That totally stinks!

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) I know, and I was all caught up and so proud of myself!! And now I just want to read more to see what is next. Luckily, my parents are bringing it up to me after the weekend.

Andrea I'm behind too Lyn, 12 hour days at work like today really make me even more behind...lol What a great leader I am :)~

Loretta (lorettalucia) Out of curiosity, who is up-to-date on this read? I believe Andrea, myself, and Teal, plus I bet Kathy probably already finished the book. Anyone else?

Andrea I'm current with this one.

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) I am not. I am only on week 12, but I am about finished with that one. I am trying to catch up, but this time of year is a hard one.

Andrea Lyn, this is where it speeds up again! Keep on reading girl you are close to catching up!

Loretta (lorettalucia) I agree with Andrea, Lyn. There was a period there where it dragged a little, but we're in very exciting times again in chunks 14 and 15. We miss you in our discussions! :)

Loretta (lorettalucia) Woo, this week's assignment is a doozie! I'm about to plop down into bed and plow through it, though. :)

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) I am almost caught up. Just started section 15.

Andrea I'm behind again DRAT!

message 23: by Amy (new) - added it

Amy (bibliocrates) I'm very behind too :o(

Loretta (lorettalucia) Lyn, please catch up! LOL, I've been talking to myself on these posts for a couple weeks now.

message 25: by Kristi (new)

Kristi (kristicoleman) Lol...you know what they say about talking to yourself Loretta! Just joking...I know you aren't answering yourself, so I'm sure it's all good...

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) On my way to post my section 14 comments, and I am halfway done with 15.

Andrea I'm trying to catch up tonight too!!!

Nathalie (natjen29) I'm so behind I'm actually ashamed of it.. but I'm reading another novel which has its hooks in me. As soon as that one is finished I'm gonna focus all my energy on The Stand again.

Of course, with moving, reading has become a luxury. I've got so much to do, I truly need to stop and sit down to squeeze in a few pages.

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) Moving can really take all of your time, Nath. I hope you get caught up soon, though, we miss you.

Loretta (lorettalucia) Everyone: I finished The Stand today. I read this week's assignment, and just decided to keep going since there was so little left at that point (maybe 90 pages?). Not sure if any of you are up to week 17 yet, but, as I'm sure you can imagine, it's hard to put down once you're almost to the end like that.

I took notes at the break point for each chunk, though, so I should be able to contribute un-spoiled comments each week.

Andrea Loretta, I'll be looking forward to your comments!!!

message 32: by Amy (new) - added it

Amy (bibliocrates) Great, Loretta! I can't wait to read your comments. I finished Chapter 46 just now, which puts me right smack in the middle.

Loretta (lorettalucia) Guys, I was just on Netflix trying to see if I could rent the mini-series (boo, they don't have it!) and realized that Rob Lowe plays Nick Andros. WTH?

Andrea Wow, that's an odd match in my mind....

Loretta (lorettalucia) I know! I looked through the rest of the cast on imdb and most everyone else looks like a good choice, at least from a physical characteristic perspective, but Rob Lowe as Nick?!?!?

message 36: by Amy (new) - added it

Amy (bibliocrates) He actually plays him quite well y'all.

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) Interestingly, I can really see Rob Lowe and Nick. It fits in my book. Glad to hear he does a good job, Amy. Now all we have to do is find a place to get it or rent it from.

Loretta (lorettalucia) It's available as part of a trio of Stephen Kimg made for TV movies on Amazon for a bit over $20. I didn't want to own, just wanted to rent, plus didn't want the other two movies, so it wasn't worth it to me, but if you really want it, it might be worth it.

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) It would depend on what the other two Stephen King movies are .

Kathy (bookgoddess1969) Robe Lowe is really great as Nick! I have to say I don't have any complaints about the casting....you might be suprised by some, but they do a really good job!

Loretta (lorettalucia) Too bad it's not easily available anymore.

Kathy (bookgoddess1969) That is frustrating! I bought mine several years ago! I'm really surprised that Netflix doesn't have it. :(

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) You can buy it on Amazon.com, but it is 89 US dollars!

Kathy (bookgoddess1969) Ouch!

Andrea Yikes, that is a bit $$$ unless you know you will watch it over and over....I'm going to check my library!

Loretta (lorettalucia) So, it turns out that my library does have it, but only as video cassettes... and I don't own a VCR anymore. What to do?

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) What is with King? or whoever. This is a bit ridiculous.

Loretta (lorettalucia) I just checked and the New York Public Library has the DVD. Perhaps the next time I vist my parents for more than a weekend, I can take it out.

But yeah, this is a hard one to find, I think.

Loretta (lorettalucia) Everyone, I'm so excited!

Netflix has put the complete The Stand miniseries up as streaming video on their website!

I haven't watched it yet, but I plan to.

I don't think I can provide a direct link, because it's password protected, but sign into Netflix and do a search! (Assuming you have an account...).

Andrea I wonder if I can get an account just to watch this...hmmm!
