Sarah (songgirl7) It may be based on a comic book, but The Dark Knight is the opposite of uncool. It was FREAKING AWESOME.

message 2: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony I'm probably going to wait a couple weeks to see it...but I hear it's great...

message 3: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (randymandy) Not to jump on the Heath Ledger bandwagon (because I just can't stand bandwagons), but SHIT he is awesome.

CBale is my least fav batman. Does he really need to try so hard to do the gravelly batman voice??? Soooo irritating. Even my friend Robbie who is number one comic book nerd was sick of Bale by the end. Yikes!

Amanda (randymandy) Umbrage, schmumbrage. No denying that Adam West cannot be touched.

(But I'd welcome Val Kilmer's touch any day.)

message 5: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (songgirl7) Christian Bale rocks. You're nuts, Amanda. :) And his voice is digitally altered so that people don't recognize it. I love it! And he's hot too, so that's a plus.

Heath Ledger was brilliant. A lot of people have wondered if the hype is just because of his death - it's not. His performance was fantastic.

I think we're all familiar with the cast of characters in Batman mythology but just in case the following is slightly spoilerish:

The Harvey Dent/Two-Face effect was so good! It was weird though how he was burned in a fire, not acid.

message 6: by Rusty (new)

Rusty (rustyshackleford) I am seriously looking forward to this movie. I’m going to see it as soon as humanly possible, but seeing as how I have kids, that will probably be a couple of months.

Sorry, Amanda, Kilmer, like all the other "Batman" stars until Bale, sucked. I will concede, however, that he kicked serious @$$ as Doc Holliday in "Tombstone".

message 7: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (randymandy) Bale makes a great Bruce Wayne! For sure.

Thanks for conceding Doc Holliday. I'm sure you're all right and I'm wrong about Bale as batman. But you can't take my val from me. hahahaha! I will always think of him as Chris Knight in Real Genius and all men I meet in real life will be compared to him. The end. :)

The twoface effect was freakin' cool man. Oh lordy!

message 8: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (songgirl7) I love the way Bruce is playing up his billionaire playboy persona - showing up at the party with three women, taking the ballet company on his yacht, speeding around in his Lamborghini. It's very Scarlet Pimpernel of him.

message 9: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (songgirl7) I was a little disappointed though because I'd heard that there was going to be a Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince preview, and there wasn't.

message 10: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (randymandy) I loved it when he crashed the Lamborghini during the "hospital" chase. Funny stuff!!!

message 11: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (songgirl7) And I love the little look he gave to that weasely guy. Like, "I just saved your ass. You're welcome. Now keep your mouth shut."

message 12: by Missa (last edited Jul 22, 2008 07:28AM) (new)

Missa I think I might be uncool because I already saw it, but am planning to see it again at an IMAX theatre tomorrow. Plus, my pal Gretch sent me a text, and she might want to see it next week with me, and I might oblige her.

I do not typically see movies more than once, but this one was off the hook.

I'd go into a long schpiel on the singular masterpiece The Dark Knight is, but I'll let my long ramble about it on another social networking site speak for itself, and the parallels I saw between the Joker and Osama bin Laden.

'The Dark Knight' - Dark, Indeed, and Epic

message 14: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (songgirl7) I want to see it on IMAX too but have to wait until the end of August for it to come to my town.

message 15: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (randymandy) Missa--do you know my friend Alison Bond? She lives in North Brunswick! (Ok, I'm mostly kidding. The likelihood of you knowing her is SLIM)

heath rocks (to stay on topic...) but IMAX makes me want to ralph. I get waaaay too motion sick! :) And I'm seriously jealous of those of you who can watch films at the IMAX without wanting to kill yourself to stop the pain!

message 16: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (songgirl7) The key is to sit in the back row.

message 17: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (randymandy) RALPH

message 18: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (randymandy) Thanks for your help, Sarah, dear. But I've tried it all! I have to take dramamine just to go to a regular movie theater if I don't sit in the back row. It truly sucks.

message 19: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (songgirl7) Sucks to be you, Mands.

message 20: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (randymandy) haha. Only on the motion sickness thing.

spoilerish: did anyone else think they tried to cram too much into the movie? I thought it was gonna end when two face emerged, but it just kept going!

message 21: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (songgirl7) Yeah, that was kind of weird.

I'm really sad that you couldn't see Harry Potter 5 in IMAX 3D. The last 20 minutes at the Dept. of Mysteries was so flipping cool in 3D.

message 22: by Missa (new)

Missa Hi Amanda-

Sadly, I do not know your friend. Is she on GR? I would be excited to know that someone in my town knows how to read, let alone likes to read. Our local bookstore seems to get more and more empty everytime I go there. Basically, they opened a Starbucks down the road with a 24hr drive thru, so now there is no reason for non-bookies to frequent the store.

I am going to take the IMAX plunge on Friday, so I will report back to all of you on how it went. Cheers, M.

HANG ON A MINUTE!!!! Off topic, but the next HP movie is The Half Blood Prince? Is there going to be a Deathly Hallows movie too? Because that would just be UNCOOl as hell of them to leave off the last book in film.

Oh god...I've become one of them.

*leaves to seek therapy*

PS, Bale is fantastic...Mands, really!

Jackie "the Librarian" I just heard that they are going to split Deathly Hallows into TWO movies, Ames. I guess there's just too much to squeeze into one.

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

So, Jacks, that means that there is the film out in November....then two more? I thought she was cutting it short because they (the kids) were getting too old? (Which is rubbish anyway, I mean, we bought 30 year olds playing high school students in 90210 for how many years?) Someone who knows really needs to put my mind at ease!

message 26: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (songgirl7) No, all the kids have signed on to complete the series of films. It was a little unsure for a while if Emma (Hermione) would return, but they've all signed on.

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks, Sarah girl!
