Mockingjay discussion

I think he doesnt get enough credit. I like Haymitch he was actually there for katniss and really related to her. Sure he drank but...he had to deal somehow. Thoughts?

I don't really blame Haymitch for his drinking. It seems like a victor has to cope somehow. I mean, imagine being constantly tomrneted by nightmares and guilt for killing someone you hardly knew (I imagine this would happen with most victors, aside from the crazies, i.e. Cato). For a long time, he had no other purpose in life but to drink (and mento kids who would inevitably die). But over time, he genuinly grows to love Katniss and Peeta, I think - he just has a weird way of showing it. Throughout the series, he was one of the only characters who made me laugh (the other being Finnick). I don't think he gets as much love as he deserves, either. He's one of my favorite characters in the HG.

i really liked haymitch, even though his drunkenness could get frustrating. he had real feelings, and i loved his sarcasm!
