Rowena (rowenacherry) | 53 comments Look across your Header menu to "authors" (second from the right).

Click on it.

Look for a green list of text links on the far right.

Click on "firstreads - free book giveaways"

Check out which (if any... but it's a new program) you seriously might like to read before the world gets a chance to buy it. Also check if there is anything expected of you.

Add your name where appropriate.

Best wishes,
Rowena Cherry

Hi, Rowena! Thanks for pointing out where to find the firstreads link! I hadn't had a chance to look for it myself, so this is really helpful. And since firstreads includes a lot of different genres, I've moved this topic into the General Discussion folder. :)

Is this program still active?

message 4: by mlady_rebecca (new)

mlady_rebecca | 75 comments Yes, they just moved things around a bit. Now you choose Explore-Books then scroll down to Giveaways.

♥Tricia♥ (siddie) | 146 comments Weird I dont have *authors* in my header menu. Should I?

Nichole (DirrtyH) (dirtyh) I think they've changed things a bit; if you click on explore, there's a drop down menu and one of the options is "author."

Lil (lilmar) | 22 comments I just got the notification that I won a copy of The Gates of Rome by Conn Iggulden, I can't wait to read it! I entered Rowena's as well, but didn't win it. Guess I'll just have to go buy it, lol.

Kristen Harvey I won a copy of the 6th Rangers Apprentice book - The Siege of Macindaw. I received the book a week or two after I received notification. It was so cool! I found out about it through one of their newsletters.

Nichole (DirrtyH) (dirtyh) lol...
I was reading this thread and thinking "Aw man, I never win nothin'!"
And then I checked my e-mail, and I also won a copy of the Gates of Rome. :)

So yeah, let's all read it together!

message 16: by Jacalyn (new)

Jacalyn | 454 comments Absolutely! That's awesome!

Are we gonna have to form a "book group" for this book? LOL

Jennifer (jen421) | 201 comments I read The Gates of Rome several years ago when it first came out. FYI it's pretty graphic in parts. I just want you to be prepared. It's an excellent book though, and especially good considering it's his first novel. I've read all four books in the series, and loved them.

message 18: by Jacalyn (new)

Jacalyn | 454 comments Crud, I was hoping to read it and find it good for my boys. But I'm not so sure I want them to read something "pretty graphic". Not that I want to shelter them, they know that the Romans were NOT nice people at times... but still. I'll see what I think. I appreciate the warning. A lot! I hate being taken by surprise with things like that!
