The one that I couldn't get rid of fast enough.

I cannot tell a lie - ME TOOOOOOOO!!! And Joe C. from her earlier Tall Dark and Dangerous series......sigh:):)

I agree with the cliffhangers of the fever series, though I supose it's goodin a way......

And I can see why the fever books would be tossed across the room.

I was starting to read the last of the series about 15 pages in

I have read 3 books so far -- have to say that it could have been consolidated into one easily & there are people who seems to like the series -- just not me. I do like the covers though.

I can't remember the title but the heroine runs away from home and stows aboard a pirate ship, where she is immediately raped by the captain (the hero) for the rest of the voyage. Somehow she meets with a cousin of his later who she wants to have a relationship with. They are travelling together somewhere when the "hero" shows up and rapes her. Then the cousin rapes her because he has a thing for whores (his words). Then later the H/h meets up again and they are travelling in a group (to Canada or something). This is where their relationship really starts to emotionally develop. The group is captured by Native Americans - and the only way for the heroine to become a member of the tribe (so she isn't sold as a slave) is to be raped by a member of the tribe. Guess what? The hero is a tribe member! She is raped again (in public, again). Somehow, after all of this, they get their HEA.
I got a satisfying “thunk” as the book hit the wall.
I would have liked to have thrown Swords & Dark Magic: The New Sword and Sorcery because of one of the stories was atrocious and had an over-abundance of descriptive language. Lady D, I posted that paragraph before…a total stinker. I would have tossed that one but it’s an ebook on my Kobo.

I think that was the book I read that made me say "oh hell no" to that author. When I would go to the library I stayed clear of any books with her name on it.
MrsJosesph that first book by Bertrice Smalls would have made me mad too. I don't like reading about rape, so I wouldn't have read past the first rape scene. That book sounds horrible.

It was horrible. The only reason I read it was The Kadin was a favorite. I'd read a couple of other Beatrice Small books that weren't that bad (she does seem to enjoy a good rape, however). This one put the cap on my Beatrice Small experience. :( Never picked up another book by her.

LOL!! You'll know it when you see it. Just try to control your throwing impulse. :)

Ok, I just did the same thing you did, lol! I'm all raped out. *sigh* I think you might be right, but gosh! I'm truly tired right now.
I always stayed clear of Bertrice Small's books, but unfortunately tried to read one of Rosemary Rogers'. Gee! That one (Wicked loving lies) made a spectacular flight across my bedroom to crash against the wall. I was like, what the hell kind of crap is that? I don't mind sex, I don't mind violence as long as it makes sense... and I couldn't find any there.

lol, all those poor books being tossed across the room. I haven't tossed a book across the room yet.

lol!
Speaking of tossing a book against the wall - Johanna Lindsey's Heart of a Warrior made me CRAZY! Ugg! I hated the heroine, hated her. No one is that dumb, no one. Heart of a Warrior was a library book so I couldn't toss it.

Speaking of Anita Blake - there was an article/blog post on Dear Author about a comment made about Anita Blake in a PC Cast Awakening House book. (not familiar)

An author had her character know another author's character and she blasted the other author?
That's low! I wouldn't want to read her book either.

Somewhat. The author of the Awakening had her characters comment on Anita Blake and the characters/books that LKH writes.
“whos anita blake?“ stevie rae askes “vampire killer chick written by a human chick who has a Totally Tragic fashion sense“
Note: All misspellings in the quotation are not mine :)
Wow MrsJoseph! She was wrong for that.
I'm a writer and I wouldn't dream of bashing another writer.

I agree. Some people feel it is ok because LKH is now considered a part of pop culture (and the PC Cast series drops names like rain), but I don't agree its ok to this extent. None of my other Urban Fantasy books bring up pop culture in this way. Honestly, I feel the writers are going to regret this later. They have just seriously dated their books.
I have no desire to read the PC Cast House of Night books. They have enough issues on their own to be throwing stones (Glass Houses and all).

MrsJoseph, I thought the hero in this book was a real a-hole. I posted a review if you're curious.
