Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments Just so you all (and my fellow mods) know, I will be gone from Monday the 27th to Friday the 31st. And unless I magically appear in a land where there is some sort of internet access... I won't be posting at all until Saturday.

So, fellow mods, keep a close eye on those crazies in 123456...0 for me. We don't want them to win, do we?

I like school, but I'm not ready to go back. One year we had a two week Christmas break. That was a good length. This year we only had a week.

This year, I have midterms at the end of January, and teachers are about to start reviewing, which is scary. Plus, I've been procrastinating on homework, so I have to do it all tomorrow. *sighs*

message 37: by Taylor (last edited Jan 01, 2011 02:50PM) (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments Ew! We've had 2 weeks, we always do. And we took midterms (we call them semester finals, but same thing) the three days before we went on break.

And to answer your question of where I went, I was at my grandparents' in New Mexico.

message 38: by Kate (last edited Jan 01, 2011 03:04PM) (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Cool (for both the vacation length and location).

Our break length depends on what day of the week Christmas and New Years are. We get Christmas Eve and January 1st off automatically, so when the holidays are on Wednesdays, we have to get the Tuesday before and the Thursday after off, which means we would have two one-day weeks. Instead, they drop those two days and make it a two-week break.

But this year, when they were on Saturday, we got the Friday before off, because it was Christmas Eve, and Thursday was a half-day, but that's it.

Wow, that was a long, complicated explanation.

My real problem with the midterms is not definitely the challenge of them, it's that it's my first year of high school, so I've never taken them before and I don't know what to expect.

message 39: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments Wow... That's bizarre, honestly. The only thing that changes where I live is, depending on district, you either have a 2 or 3 week break.

Don't worry too much about midterms... The teachers will make them sound big, bad and scary, but as long as you know your material you're good to go.

message 40: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments We had a week and a half this year.
We've got our semester exams coming up in January too.....

message 41: by Kate (last edited Jan 01, 2011 04:34PM) (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Don't sound so excited. ;)

message 42: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments Wow... We ALWAYS do exams before we go on break... I think our teachers are afraid we'll forget stuff during our time off.

message 43: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments I mean, we have most of a month in between break and midterms, and it sounds like the teachers are planning a lot of review, but still...that's what we're afraid of too.

message 44: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Kate wrote: "Don't sound so excited. ;)"

:) I'll try not to. Though it's my Spanish 1 midterm that I'm REALLY nervous about. I'm not ALL that nervous for the others. And for some reason my geometry teacher is making our mid-term open book.....I don't quite understand it....Hopefully I won't need to use it in any case.

message 45: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Lucky. Some schools do it differently.

message 46: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments No, it pretty much sticks with me a lil bit- and everything else I need to know will be covered by the review sessions and studying.

message 47: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Maybe, I've never done it that way though, so I don't really know what it'd be like. And that seems like a lot to get in before break.

message 48: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments I don't worry about school anyways and it didn't hit me until this week that finals are next week.

message 49: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Yeah, school comes easily to me- except for Spanish, but I have a high-B/low-A in that class.

message 50: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments That sounds pretty good to me.
