[book:One..."

Go to the author profile of the one without the middle initial, click on edit data and add the middle initial to the name. It will ask you which profile to keep. Pick the one with the middle initial.

Carolyn (seeford) | 573 comments I would recommend first checking the author profile.

If one of them has a photo or bio information, you'll want to keep that one (but still add the initial if it's missing), or copy and paste it into the other profile.

If they both have some info, edit one to be the best/most complete profile possible.

If it is a GR author, you can't edit their profile. In that case you need to edit each individual book to match their profile, then change the now-empty other one to "Various" to delete it from the system.

If the GR Author profile doesn't include the initial, you may want to message them to let them know that books are coming up in the system with the initial, and would they prefer to add it to their profile to 'catch' these books when they first get added.

(I haven't looked at this specific author in question, these are just my basic to-do's when encountering a 'merge author' issue.)

Thanks for posting the details.

I did look at both author profiles before telling her how to change it and which one to keep, but I did just tell her how to change this particular one.

Dee-Ann | 4 comments Thanks for that. I did that. My only concern is that there is one book under this name (originally without the middle initial)Scientific Computing with Multicore and Accelerators which is so unlike the others for this author, that I wonder if it is the same person. Actually I just googled the name David Bader, and found that there is a David A. Bader who is a professor at at Georgia Institute of Technology, which seems to be this second person so I will try to fix the authors of this latter book.

Excellent!

Vevi | 2 comments Hello, I kind of have the same problem with Lene Kaaberbøl who also have a profile under Lene Kaaberbol.
I really have no idea about how i combine them or which profile that should be kept as they both seem pretty good.

I wouldn't suggest combining them, for a number of reasons. Instead, I'd suggest adding the English spelling (which is how the LoC has it) as primary author on the Danish editions (leaving the Danish spelling as secondary). Both author profiles would then remain, and the Danish books and their English translations could be combined.

Yell if you need help with that. :)

And welcome!
