What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

I'm searching for a book that I began reading but never finished. It was about a ship/freighter/trawler or the like, stuck in rocks above high tide line either on an island or remote coast. There was a welded-closed door on the boat, with someone living in the marooned boat. Read in the early 90's. Thanks!
