It's that time again. Actually it's a little late coming but I've been busying getting some anniversary stuff together so I hope you forgive me.

Nominations are open but please do not nominate a book until you have read THIS
post.

Thanks,
Tera

Nancy (Colorado) The Lost Daughter by Daralyse Lyons. Could be somewhat heart-wrenching but it has been rated 5 stars on the Goodreads site.

Nancy, I don't know anything about that book, but if you look at the page, it has only been rated by one person, becky, and if you go to becky's profile you will see this is the only book she has shelved and basically all her activity here on Goodreads is promoting this one book. Probably the author, using a different name. :o)

I just saw the synopsis for this the other day, and it looks like it would be very interesting. ;)

Nancy (Colorado) I did not find the book on Goodreads at first but in the book section of The Denver Post. It was under the "Hitting the Shelves Soon." I will read pretty much anything so no worries there!

Jennifer W | 2175 comments If it's that new, will most of us be able to get our hands on it, Nancy?

I've debated what to nominate and I think I'll go with The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood.

It was published, according to GR, in 2008. On the GR page where you can see availability, most sellers have it listed as a "print on demand" book. I checked my library and they do not have a copy. So, if you vote for this book, realize that you will have to order it and most likely pay at least $12-$15, plus postage in some/most cases, to read this book. It is not available in ebook form.

Hi Skena. :o)
I checked your profile yesterday and it said you were 11 years old. Is that correct? (I don't see it listed today).
I love your avatar of the Little Mermaid. My daughter loves the Little Mermaid also. :o)

My library has several copies, and I was able to get it on Paperbackswap really quickly - From what I gather, it's kind of popular among high school and college students as a classic / dystopian novel. And I check the Borders site and it lists as "likely in store" for all the ones in my area - maybe there's a different edition or something that you were looking at Shay?

message 21: by Shay (last edited Jan 24, 2011 07:13PM) (new)

Shay | 284 comments Sarah, I was talking about the book The Lost Daughter. If I haven't heard of a book, I try to look it up at the library and online to see how "available" it is. I don't want to vote for something I'm probably not going to read.

message 22: by SarahSaysRead (new)

SarahSaysRead Oohhhhhhhhhhhh, LOL sorry! I misunderstood! :o)

Nancy (Colorado) Apparently tHE lOST dAUGHTER was published in October 2008! I can check the libs and Barnes and Noble for more info. Like I said..I will read about anything and I have read the most of the books we have picked since December so i can always read whatever I want if you all go with a book I have already enjoyed. Definitely NOT a big deal!
