All my problems started with IBS, an internet bookshop: small taxes, a lot of books, a lot of sales. AND the fact that the nearest bookshop was small, far and so friggin' slow in ordering books you got old before you got your novel.

Welcome to Goodreads, Christian. You are correct, we all love to read here!

Hello, Bianca. Welcome. You learned to read English so you could read more books! Goodreads is the place for you

Bianca, that is amazing. I love books too.

Johanness, here! Born in Philippines, we (parents and I) moved to Australia and now here I am, buying books when I can, as much as I can =)
Fiction, Fantasy, Young Adult and History Fiction are some of my FAVOURITES! <3
Pleasure to be meeting you all, :)

I'm trying to limit my spending on books as I've now gotten more than I can read...Not the quickest reader at times but then on the other hand I can speed through my reading material.
I'm from Australia :D

Heh - I worked at B&N years ago - dangerous, verrrry dangerous, but kind of wonderful in that I got to explore all the books - and I was a little worried when they put in couches: people did settle in for the day, and often fall asleep. Between the comfy furniture and the cafe, you almost could live there ...

I hope to have fun here and meet great and crazy people like me ^^

i just joined too. my granddaughter has a nook and they live close to a barnes and noble. i live in the country and am not close to anything. i got the kindle because at the time i had not really heard anything about any of the others. i love my kindle though as i'm sure you like your nook.
love all the freebies that are out there too.

Ever since I discovered online buying (Chapters is my fav place to buy...free shipping over $25 always gets me into trouble, lol) and Ebooks, my collection has not stopped growing. My E-reader is always full...with plenty saved on my PC and SD cards...to constantly move the books around. I am a bit OCD in the way that I NEED to buy full series' once I find one that I like, and will usually try to get most other books by that author. I love building a collection. Sometimes I don't even get a chance to read them until months, even years, later. But I have absolutely NO self control when it comes to buying my books. Maybe I need help (hubby seems to think so anyway, lol) but I love it too much and rarely feel guilty...especially when it's a good deal.
I feel much better getting that off my chest, lol.

So my books are 2, 3 deep and it drives me to distraction when I can't find certain titles.
I'm certainly enjoying Goodreads, thanks for having me!

Since it's been difficult for me to find a job after I got laid off, and I've witnessed deteriorating health in several members of my family, some of my new years rezzies have been to change my eating habits, exercise more (I'm getting an elliptical!!), and to read the snot out of my Amazon wish list!
Currently I enjoy sneaking books that I purchase at the store from my husband, for reasons unknown...I just enjoy doing it? I love to online book shop and forget about them (I order a lot of books WAY before they are released) and when they come in the mail, it's like SURPRISE YOUR MAILBOX LUVZ YOU!! And I have made many complaints to the City about not having a legit bookstore. We have a woman who owns a secondhand store and buys books from amazon, and pretty much her entire collection consists of the two YA books that are popular at the moment, about three hundred copies of each Twilight book, and an ass ton of Dean Koontz and Nora Roberts. Oh and she's never open.
I first became a book addict at the tender age of ten, or maybe eleven? Anyway, once upon a time we had a book fair and I discovered the Animorphs Series by K. A. Applegate, and I was hooked. I read the entire series as I grew up, with the exception of like, the last four books. I think in the back of my head I don't want the series to end because it's been with me for so long. I still have all of the books boxed up in my attic, and I re-read them all when I had my daughter almost four years ago, and again could not finish them. From that series, I then discovered Anita Blake by Laurell K Hamilton, and was hooked on the sci-fi, urban fantasy, paranormal romance, vampire, werewolf, tasty goodness that is fantasy novels. I then shed the Laurell K Hamilton novels after Obsidian Butterfly because her books kind of turned into crap and I got really disappointed. Now I'm getting into more of the post-apocalyptic stories, and fictional books like Where The Heart Is, The Millenium Trilogy, and Push. I also enjoy stalking my favorite authors online; Kelly Gay, Rachel Vincent, Richelle Mead, Jenna Black, Jeanne C. Stein, and Dakota Cassidy.
Some day I would love to write a book or a series of books, but I just don't have the knack for it. But I can design your kitchen or bathroom like nobody's business!

My home serves as the foundation for all the shelves which hold over three thousand hardcover books - paperbacks are stacked in the closets. I love to read books. I love to own books. I love to touch and smell books. One of my favorite activities is to quietly sit while sipping a cup of coffee and stare at the room length shelves neatly stacked (and in systematic order!) with my books. I own most every book I've read and I've read most every book I own. And yet, despite this I still can function like "other" people in society. So there!

Hello. My name is Shay and I am a book addict. It's been about 8 hours since I bought a book.
I am an avid reader and I buy books faster than I can read them. I buy books and then realize I already have them (I have been getting better with that). I am out of shelves and have started storing some out of the way.
Today I went to a big library book sale and got 22 books for 12 bucks. Then I went to a smaller library and bought five books from their used book section.
I have a Kindle and a Nook. That's bad isn't it? I don't have more than 50 books on each though. I have only had them a few months. I am sure there will be more on them soon.
My husband is a reader too and my enabler. It's nice to know that I am not alone.

Being a student, this is a real difficulty as there is very limited shelf-space in my student house - I have had to resort to storing books in large piles wherever there is space, not to mention passing books onto my parents whenever I see them so that they can put them in my bedroom at home. Despite this lack of space, my book-buying doesn't seem to have slowed down at all, and I have dreams of one way having a library in my own home. It is good to know that I am not alone.

I'm a German living in US for the last few years, one of my first discoveries in this country was the Barnes & Nobles stores. If they would allow me to put a bed in there I would live there.
Since this year I also own a Nook, giving me the opportunity also to read material written in my native language, it was a good investment but will never replace the feel of real paper for me.
